another update..

within 2 weeks of oral noxidil minoxidil, there is increased hair growth on my body.. one obvious area i noticed is my front hairline, small hair are growing fast. This is just info for those who really want to risk the side effects, not to encourage u guys here to try. so far for me, no side effects, but living with too many medication is not the way out either. for now, i just trying out different treatments.

in the net, i read up the oral taking of minoxidil is more for medical condition, Alopecia areata.

in the end, i have decided to take up hair transplantation next year, cost range from 3k to 8k. but hopefully hair multiplication etc will be made available by then.

http://www.hairsynergy.com/cost.html

hope my research and progress will encourage u guys.

at the same time, i would hope u guys can update with ur progress like taking propecia, etc stuff.

Total cost can vary from S$3000 to S$8000 per session
3k-8k is per session. how many sessions is needed is unknown.

expected to hit the market in 2009/2010
only future generations of HM will allow patients to grow as much hair as they want

good luck dude. lets just hope that HM will progress faster

just some thought of mine.

many time, we keep thinking out treatment is not working as hairloss continue to progress and this discourage us from ongoing treatment. sometime, it working but not what we expect.

my 2years older than me brother who is married and no longer living with my family came back yesterday to vist us. i was shocked when i saw him yesterday as his hair have thin quite badly.

he use to have much thicker and better hair then me with no sigh of hairloss unlike me. i think his hairloss progress is just slower then mine. after i saw his hair, i realise if not due to treatment, i will be much worst than him.

as least now my hairloss is still "coverable". some who met me from this fourms commented my hair is quite ok. my hairloss is mainly at the crown and will be noticable if you stand above me. so when my friends at workplace come over to my seat, i will normally stand up to communicate with them.

just to encourage those who think they are not seeing any result not to give up. treatment could buy you many more years just in time for something better to be introduce.

keep the faith up guys. good luck!!!

One more question, do u take fin? Think i will stick to my current regime for a month first before considering adding minox. If u still have the foam on hand i will get it from u then lol.

Good luck to your experiment, be sure to let us know of any new findings.

sorry, miss your post.

i stopped fin and now on dut. but i don't take the standard dosage. i dropped from 3pills per week to even lower dosage of 2pills per week. 2 Dut pills per week effect on DHT is roughly equal to 5mg of fin daily.

thanks pal!!! will update.

just to add on for those who is asking to compare minoxidil and propecia. it is like comparing apple and orange. they work differently and best to be use together. minoxidil is use mainly to "offset" your loss of hair. it like adding fertilizer to plant so as to help it grow faster and better. it does not stop the thinning process. propecia is used to stop one of the factor that cause hair thinning therefore resulting in slowing down of hairloss or even some regrow for those lucky one. both treatment work hand in hand.

Lets say if I uses fin but it still does not help the frontal hair and I use minoxidil which helps.
Can I stop minoxidil and just use fin to maintain the now already growing frontal hair?
or will the frontal stop growing again due to the lack of minoxidil?

if a user is on fin and got a girl pregnant and the fetus is a male, will there be any effects on the baby?

hair multiplication still actually require the surgery method of transplantation of hair follicles onto the scalp?
the only difference is that the newly implanted follicles will send signals to the surrounding ones?

Tks, appreciated that u reply even after soon long:)

How long did u stay with fin before jumping to dut? What's the reason for the change? Effectiveness or cost? I really curious becos my condition is also thinning from the crown, if touch wood:s16: fin doesn't cut out for me, i'll have to find alternatives.

ISO can help?

btw whats the cost of dust? cheaper compared to fin?
reading thru the previous posts, you mentioned that fincar is cheaper since it is the generic brand. i cant seem to order anything from the cipla website, the company which produces fincar. can you share with me where you order your fincar?

many thanks!

It does work on the front of the head to some extent. The reason why Rogaine mentions that it's only for the top of the head (vertex) is because only the vertex was included during the clinical trial of the drug (if I'm not mistaken).

not true at all.

Actually, it's partly true. Oil does indeed block the follicles but only if there is excessive secretion of the oil glands. Oil is also needed by the hair for maintenance. The problem is DHT which can make the oil glands become overactive producing more oil than necessary. This overproduction of oil clogs the follicles that's why thin hairs (vellus) or almost transparent hairs are produced. Eventually the follicles get completely blocked and closes. Once a follicle closes, it is irreversible.

For those suffering from oily scalp (like me). I suggest you use Nizoral 2% (ketoconazole) in combination with 5% minoxidil. Nizoral according to studies has an anti-DHT effect. BUt use it 3x a week only. Otherwise, it will dry your scalp. They say it's also a factor why Nizoral in a way helps in hair growth because it clears away the sebum (oil) and dandruff which also blocks the follicles.

hi. has anyone used foltene before? is it effective? or has anyone hrd anyhting bout it? thx

I used Foltene way, way back but it didn't work for me. The only proven hair growth meds are finasteride and minoxidil based on the FDA.
I have used minoxidil on and off but it's always effective for me everytime I bring back the treatment although the effects are not that dramatic. That's why I'm using it this time with an anti-DHT shampoo to boost its effects.

JimmyHand and usernamebarley:

i was on fin for about 2years before i jump to dut. fin 5mg cost about $84for a box and last for 4months if cut into 4pieces. dut cost about $86 and last abt 3.5months if take twice per week.

reason for the change is because of possible chance of it been more effective. 2reasons for it. firstly, it is much more effective in reducing DHT. secondly, there are some suggestion that fin and dut work for differently for people with different genectic so if fin does not work for you, dut might. how true is the 2nd reason, i can't verify.

last time i use to get fincar from here.

miss out one of your post. if your hairgrown is due to minoxidil, sadly fin alone won't maintain it. you need to keep using minoxidil to keep it there.

generally, it is safe to have children regardless of gender. there are some report which i didn't really pay attention on is that such drug will reduce quality of sperm. most of the time, you will recover once you stop taking the pills. how true is it i not sure as i not into having children so i didn't pay attention to it :p haha... but don't worry too much. alot of people on fin have healthy babies.

hair multiplication is still in testing phase and won't be out that soon. generally there are a few version. like through injecting cultrue cell into your scalp, hair grow on cultrue dishes etc. either way, there is still some sugery going on.
