Total of 239 pages of posts...

Concluded that majority is against the visits to hair care centers such as Yun Nam, Beijing, Svensons...

Proven science methods with varied results are propecia, minox, nizoral...

Cosmetic methods would be hair transplant where Dr.Damkerng from Bangkok is best in the region...

So far, only hair transplant would be the only method without cumbersome application of minox, and worrisome side effects of Propecia...

And it would cost 7k to 10k depending on how many grafts you would be getting...

So for me, I think I am going about this battle in this sequence, can provide some more advice, if you think otherwise?

1) Polyclinic visit to be referred to NSC - To confirm if I am really suffering from MPB.

2) NSC appointment - Blood test, bulb analysis, diagnosis

3) If confirmed MPB - Be on propecia for half a year to check effects, then followed by hair transplant,provided that propecia not effective... or side effects observed in me...

Is this alright?

1st. It's better to seek professional advice from NSC. Last time when I went, I asked for blood test, hair bulb test but all were fine except for the blood test I found out I have Thalessamia minor (spelling).

2nd. Once ur hair loss problem is due to MPB, u can take propecia or minox or both together which I am doing now. Hair regrowth and maintence is a very $$ and time intensive

U will notice shedding within first 3-4 months of using minox or propecia. I read that, if u shed, this is an indication that the medications are working. It is normal from rogaine website.

u r 27/28 i m only 23.... i think either u take propecia/mino/niz or shave it


the propecia/mino/niz may give u major side effects if u read up on it. however if u r lucky like some ppl here side effects r little. so far this is the most effective method but u must be prepared for sides.

hair transplant doesnt solve yr prob. yr hair will still drop n sooner or later, if u dont constantly go back , u could have funny patches of hair that u transplanted while other portion of yr hair drop off.


or u can be like me. have the right shampoo, cut a short hairstyle. once it gets very bad shave it all off. focus on other area like yr skin, teeth, dress sense/ physique n u can look good botak

tequilablue82, can you share some information on where you got the contacts for doctors at Thailand? I have tried and given up hope on minoxidil, propecia and those saloon treatments with ampule. Tried everything but nothing is working, and I have wasted a lot of money already.

I had also visited specialists at the hospital and my blood test reveals that I might suffering from thalessemia, which might be the cause of my balding.

From your review on Dr Eileen Tan, the prospect of finding a permanent and useful solution in SG gets more bleak...

People around me tell me that I aged a lot over the last few years, which coincides with a lot of hair loss, maybe due to work stress.

I'm getting married soon, and don't wanna look botak when I go for my wedding shoot next year.
Saw a sample album at the wedding studio where the groom had very obvious MPB. I don't want mine to end up in the same way... Feel so depressed...

Hi guys, would like to share my hair lost experience.

My crown area had been losing hair for yrs till the shape M is very obvious and the front hair volume is very little, especially obvious when i keep it long. The thing i observe is when i feel my hair, it is oily and sometime the hair that fall out had a yellow oil bulb attach to it.

So here is the following treatments i tried.

1)Nioxin shampoo- other then a very gd shampoo, i got not much comment for it. Can get it cheaper then buying in saloon if u get it at chinatown shopping centre.

2) Ba Wan shampoo- I bought the hair loss type, not much result. Now i use the Anti Dandruff version daily to prevent itchness from using minoxidile. It also help to reduce the oil in my hair.

3) Nizoral- Very gd in clearing oily scaple. Best is keep it on for 5 min and massage the crown area to get rid of the oil. 2% can be bought at any phamacy. I find 2% is too strong for daily usage so i bought 1% online for daily usage.

4 )Minoxidil 5%- Tried spectral DNC for two months, no visible improvement is seen plus its expensive so i bought kirkland instead. I apply once a day before i go sleep. Since its cheap i apply everywhere around my head. Plus since its alcohol based, in my own belief it can help to kill any baterial around my head.

Ok the result so far after 6 months of kirkland minoxidil 5% and nizoral 1% is that tiny little hairs can be seen around the crown area and hair is less oily. Will continue to monitor the situation.

And my advice for guys with crown hairloss, try to shave the side of your hair while keeping the top slightly longer ( kinda of like chen hanwei hairstyle). It make the hair loss less obvious

There goes the only proven to be rather effective hair loss retardation medicine...

Our future for all MPB hair loss individuals appear bleak...

Now I know why my NSC docs didn't prescribe me propecia instantly...

They put me on minoxidil 5% only...

What about Saw Pameltto? It doesn't work like finasteride anyway right?
