Whahahaha I agree. Really hate to see such English in this thread.

He's a local fktard. I am all for sharing but speaking in that manner just bring down the collective intelligence of this thread and our country.

Wish I can meet this **** and see how he acts.
But he don't dare. Pui
Maybe he does speak that way, then he should be in a circus.

just wondering, what is the demographics of rolex owners..... will they be affect by this covid19-downturn?
is there a chance to pick up a pre-owned rolex (SD) at retail price?

if rolex owners are usually ppl with high holding power, then i deploy the cash elsewhere lolx

There are all kinds of Rolex owners lah. Some live beyond their means while others don’t.

Economic downturns like now flush out those who over-leverage. It’s a good time to look for lower than usual pricing, but it won’t stray too far from market price.

For people who own a Rolex watch or 2, selling it/them off won’t solve much of their problems, so they’ll likely be looking at other more effective means of fund raising.

People who find $15-30k to be absolute life savers won’t own Rolex’s in the first place.

...

volatility is half of where it was at the peak last month. markets have stabilised and you won't see the 10% drops anymore. bearish sentiments ahead.

I think u r right with your first sentence and you can never rule out the scenario mentioned in your last sentence. Think about it, it’s not hard to find that someone around you with nothing much yet they own a branded watch, sports car right. It depends on upbringing and money management skills.

Anyway, the price will drop big time eventually, due to sellers who need money and a drop in demand. Whether it’s below rrp or not depends on the severity and duration of this pandemic. A lot of us don’t run business, which is a good thing for now. If not for government aid this month, you will see a lot of SME business owners selling all kinds of things to fund the operations, rolexes included. That’s why government is so serious about all of us staying at home to fix this problem once and for all. If not, businesses will continue to remain close, some will go bankruptcy, unemployment will shoot up and by then sellers will flood the market. For grey dealer, which I mentioned 1-2 weeks ago, it’s blood bath. No one will buy their stocks now. Rolex has no choice but to push out more of their “limited” sports models soon to drive sales. I read and i am of the view that some of you here are delusional to believe rolex has no financial needs. The Executives and staff in total earn millions if not billions a year, someone above them will demand a business plan on how to balance the operation cost for this year, next and go so.

I been thru 08, I can only tell u that rolex is not that hot or in demand when the asset prices in the world come crashing down.

I've mentioned this before, for the people who are just waiting for the market to crash to grab a cheap Rolex:

how certain are you that in those times, you would want to put whatever money you have in a watch?

In times of dire economic crisis, everyone will hoard cash (or physical gold/silver), not watches.

It's all about perception.

So what if a Daytona can be had at RRP?

In good times, $15k over RRP feels like RRP or even less. In bad times RRP feels like $15k over RRP or even more.

When we can, we do. Simple as that.

imo, things are different now with social media
watches are very likely deemed "investment" grade
1. there is an OTC market available (grey dealers) which provides liquidity to a certain extent. obviously not as liquid as gold but yeah
2. appraisal widely available (chrono24, facebook groups)
3. people have seen how much a ceramic daytona can go up to; coupled with the first 2 points will make it a very tempting proposition to hoard. and lets not forget the possibility of hitting new highs in the upturn

i believe these 3 points may support the desirability to a certain extent and keep supply low

feel free to disagree, but everyone is throwing a punch blindfolded right now
only time will tell :D

Your point is spot on, which contributes to drop in demand. Hence, this leaves rolex will no choice but to pump out more “limited edition”, driving the prices down to rrp or even lower. It’s a cycle.

Watches one of the more easier item to turn into cash when you run into trouble,
If you have multiple pieces of 10k+ watches, it can easily turn into cash, for whatever payment purpose.

That's why you see pawnshops are open during this ** period.
