My prediction for 2022 -

patek to lose 50% of value since february

AP to lose 30% to 40% of value since february

rolex to rebound back by end of the year in worst case scenario

ive been telling others all these while, patek is not hype at all, its artificial brand as the brand is much weaker than rolex

can rolex kill patek by entering into fine watchmaking?

yes.

will rolex do so? no

patek, lange, philippe dufour and fp journe, all of them are the same, there is no connection between these brands to the youths of today
Why are you so Against patek? Lol..

Cos patek dont have brand following

artificially restrict supply

Warren buffett "only when the tide goes out do you discover who has been swimming naked
But they only make about 40-50k of watches per year, that’s quite standard for hand assembled complications . the “artificial supply” probably is the less than 15 pcs of delivery every month.
Unlike Rolex’s production which is far higher..

No matter how they unrestrict, it will never match Rolex.. it’s like comparing Ferrari against bmw or merc that kind of analogy?
For thg customers we do progress to patek.. so there’s a decent size of following.. buy so many Rolex it gets boring u know..

The issue is patek overmanipulated when their brand following is non substantial

the watch supply should not stress the market leading to meltdown

people who paid 130k to 140k for aquanaut wont get their money back

collecting hobby or not, i wonder how would people feel when they buy at 130k to 140k peak at a time when patek is losing followers

more could have been done

Daytona got fastest price appreciation as the price stabilise at some point

Now people are only waiting to see what pricepoint the watches will stabilise at and then the price will creep up further

Market share drop for PP due to poor connection with clientale

140k PP drop by 30%, which is considered hefty compared to Rolex which only drop 10% to 15%

Poor connection with clientele? Perhaps u wanna share more?
I don’t feel so leh as a patek client. Grey pieces owners aren’t recognized by patek as clients though.

yes.

patek is not really connecting with the youths

if you do a search on social media, the popularity of patek is very low

patek market share dropped from 5.8% to 4.8%

AP droped by 0.1%

RM increased by 0.2%

as you can tell from the piechart ive posted above, it dropped from 5.8% to 4.8% market share
Lol I see.. okie point noted. It’s not targeting that segment to begin with.. Rolex is a mass market brand.. patek isn’t.

If you analyse carefully

every brand needs to grow in terms of market share to create demand

it is demand that drives prices to sky rocket

To put it in my analogy, this has nothing to do with haute horology or not

lets assume 2022 1000 patek made, 100 customers

2023, 1000 patek made and 90 customers

2024, 1000 patek made and 80 customers

you get the drift

Contrast to rolex (example), 1000 rolex made but 110 customers

1000 rolex made next year but 150 customers
