jialat. means you haven't been buying watches for long, i think maybe started 2018-2019

lol watch brand need hype to survive. i wonder how patek (since 1850s) or any other watch manufacturers are still around. LOL

jialat, citizen should toh long ago, if need hype to survive.
rado also
this is based on my observation since the recent crash

patek went up too fast and fell too fast because it is all hype and zero substance to back it up

i have to correct you again.
NOT ALL ROLEX trade above RRP. lol

DJ are still shitters that used to create buying profile

for a patek, shitter like calatrava, they get to choose you to see if you're a good customer before they sell it to you

and a basic cala is 30-40k vs a DJ at 10-20k
even Ladies DJ 31mm 278240 in steel also selling in the market for above RRP

grey market = $10.2k

RRP = 9.4k

basic bnib calatrava is selling for alot lower than RRP in the market

yes thats the problem

commoners dont know the brand, its become too exclusive for itself

the fanbase becomes lower over time and customers get lower every year

Brand Recognition is more important than watchmaking quality when it comes to holding value

last sentence, because its grossly overpriced in the grey

1) availability
2) those people that are sick of lup sup rolex are heading over to AP and patek cause they more satki.

and of course when correction is due. prices tend to drop faster because the value is higher.

whichever the case, patek and rolex demographics are different.

patek do not need to attract the young, they eventually will go to them, thats if they can afford. lol
AP and patek is different appeal than rolex

AP and patek is ultimately stealthy watch brand, those who prefer discreet brand

The john mayer rolex was trading at 185k Bnib and now 170k bnib which represents only a 15k decline compared to patek aquanaut which dropped 30% from the peak

lup sup is good, brand appeal is important

Is it so unimaginable for you that some of us don't need to care about the resale value when we buy our toys?

Or that some people actually enjoy it that their watches do not catch the attention of YPs?

End of the day

marketing and brand appeal is the most important key to survival

No doubt that watchmaking ability is one factor

but brands need to make their effort to stay relevant and not lose market share

Otherwise it will only deter collectors who are seeking to preserve their money in a watch collection

we will see if patek can grow further by having more customers by end of 2022 to prop up its resale prices or will it be similar to lange in terms of resale price

you ask yourself whether you like the way patek is losing in terms of value ?
I like the way you bringing down patek. Keep away from patek please. Go buy your rolex.

Is it true for Hour Glass, you have to buy 3 regular watches to get on the wait list for a sports model? Does that include other brands since Datejusts are also oos?

Relax...

Prices drop. Up. All normal. Part and parcel.

Patek. Ap has seen their sports model rose too much n too fast.

Coming down is natural lar.

I am not yet a patek fan. Maybe not old enough or prob not a horology person yet.

However patek is still like the ferrari. That bugati that one aspire .

Rolex while super desirable is still a beemer or a merc. Mass produced but everyone aspire to own 1. Or a quote. I need 5 rolexes to be considered a fan of rolex.

Dude, this post is 3 months ago. Do a proper research if you want to state an opinion on the market
Yup. Maybe u got me wrong. I’m trying to tell him such an example is not a clear indication of market price.
