Not expert in vintage watches but the insert also looks pretty evenly faded, seen quite a few people on seikomod reddit bleaching their inserts for the vintage look lol

Urs is still a nice looking watch though

siao liao now teh guy regret impulse purchase and after few weeks or months of feeling disturbed might finally try to offload it to next unsuspecting buyer…

Yeah, if you visit the dark side of watches forum, you can see alot of creative build of the 5513.

Cartel Case, Yuki hands , vietnam dial and hands..and some include gen parts like crystal and crown powered by ETA 2824 or Miyota movement... (Various builds below)

For vintage watch, everything must be original and as per year (MKI, MKII,etc) if 1 component wrong, will greatly affect the value and resale. I have seen GMT 1675 with wrong caseback, Dial is Swiss <T25 but hands luminova but GMT hand does not glow...and the list goes on.

There is even a double stamp caseback and the model number not straight at all? This one I really dunno is legit or Vietnam caseback.

looking at the photo again, it's kinda odd that the lume pip on the bezel insert is still there though the watch is quite old (based on the insert's condition and assuming its real)

but as i've said, the insert ageing looks too even, most likely it's bleached lol

if it's real, good for him, if not... well, his watch, his money :s13::s13:

Thanks for all the responses - both the compliments and the feedback.

I bought this off a longtime friend who got it from a watch shop in HK that specialises in vintage watches only. Tbh I did not do much reading/research since I’m buying from a friend whom I know did his due diligence back when he bought the watch.

Lots of red flags lol..watch shop in hk that specializes…from a fwen….Frankenstein wouldn’t touch it
Really funny for you to pass judgment that it’s a frankenwatch from just a photo and a few background info of how and who I got it from.

I guess it really depends on the quality of friends you have and your own personal experiences with dealing with such friends. I’ve never had issues dealing with friends as I only deal with those whom I know will not screw me over to make a quick buck. And sure, lots of shady HK watch shops around but that doesn’t mean that all of them are illegitimate.

All these scrutiny for franken is part and parcel of vintage enthusiasts.. i wont further speculate the intentions are out of passion or something else..

For me at least, the more i hear the more i hesitate on vintage (they arent cheap either)

Ultimately wat matters most is yr own comfort level though.. so i hope u enjoy the watch!
