I’m in agreement to certain extent on what he said about recognition that comes with Rolex but disagree on Patek. But hor, I like Patek but not Hermes. If I were to buy a luxury brand tee shirt, both Balenciaga and Hermes will be out of my list. i’m more likely to go for LV or Burberry. Hahaha
The beauty about luxury watch discussion is this. Many may not know about brands like MB&F and even FP Journe, but this are well respected brands for those who follow the world of luxury watches.

Hahaha I got a Patek AC and someone told me it looks like pasar malam watch. Hahaha
but I‘m not bothered seriously. I’m also not bothered by some of the talk here that Rolex is just an average watch. If it is, then seriously there won’t be that many people trying to build profile to lay their hands on one

Rolex is different because its famous globally & There is alot of effort placed to making it successful.

Its the only dominant brand

The other brands are still not as successful as it is and omega tag heuer can never match up to it

As for other brands its not possible to get robbed when wearing it because there is zero recognition, only wear for yourself

Don’t get me wrong I love Rolex and will add more Rolex to my collection too. But if I have 200k to drop on a watch, I for sure won’t consider Rolex. And should that day comes, the last thing on my mind will be if some random on the street can recognise my 200k watch or not. If they can’t recognise a Patek or a FP Journe, is that really the crowd I wanna talk watches with?

I wore my Patek recently to office and nobody notices it, except a colleague who knows I’m into watches and then asked me if that was an Omega I‘m wearing. I told him no and then he took a closer look, realised it’s Patek and he had this “jaws dropped“ look on his face. Haha

Ya I think different people get into watches for different reasons and there’s probably no right or wrong, who are we to judge? Whether one prefers to be noticed or fly under the radar, there’s no absolute right or wrong. And the same person may want different things from the watch he or she wears on different occasions too.
