The fact of it is Lange is easier to access. Step into the boutique pay a deposit and you can get hold of one. Yes even the Lange 1.
I notice quite a few Lange supporters I know, not sure when did they started buying langes or do they even own 1, aren’t PP fans..mainly because they have no access to PP or didn’t even try.. they somehow have the impression PP is very difficult to buy.
ALS has nice finishing but I personally find it too thick. I’m slim so it won’t go well.
Oh wow, Lange boutique accepts deposit? Interesting.
Anyway I know of one guy who is a huge Lange fan. He has just one PP and 3-4 pieces of Lange. His comment is that he lost interest in PP and much prefers Lange these days. He didn’t specify why he didn‘t like PP any more. But seems your observation of this was quite similar to my experience with this guy.

I used to have the misconception with German watchmaker due to their thickness and gothic looks however I was pleasantly surprised that Lange Odysseus can sit on my small wrist well without looking like lugs overhang.
For me, It is not difficult to buy PP like world time or annual calendar from the boutique but whether do they fit me..
Although I am not really a Lange fan, I do hope I can own 1 in the future after I have become original owner of patek and realised the recognitions..😂 no hard feelings bro..
Non taken. But I’m sure you are well aware that Odysseus has a very long waiting time as well..
for myself patek is more meaningful as I intend to leave both my kids a collection of pateks. leaving money is easy but something to remember by is entirely different.

I don’t think any watch lover won’t like PPs.. maybe just sore or got banned for flipping. I’m plain blunt but that’s the fact of it.

No lah, I have always like PP as they have one of the best finishing.
Although I am not an original owner of PP, I do enjoy my wrist time. Probably, I am just envious of you lol 😂 but no offends..
Oh ok, I have this impression because you commented couple of times before that you do not know what is exactly the big deal about PP. 😂

You definitely share the philosophy and vision that PP watches are to be passed down to next generation. 👍

I’m sold by that tagline and the video they had lol. And I have a very close bond with my kids so yeap. That’s my rationale.

for lange 1, there's a wait list. deposit should be ok at this point
for anything above the lange 1 list, they stopped taking deposit and there's no sight of delivery.

During that time, orders were open for the white gold piece. The blue piece will need a bundle and take up to 2 years to deliver.

Salute yr loyalty to PP, you actually never own a PP. You merely look after it for the next generation..

odysseus, lol for white gold, easier.
for blue steel, long bloody wait
and min to be able to get 1 allocation, you need to buy things above lange 1 which makes it tougher because you can't deposit for those.
the last heard waiting time for odysseus (i meant you already got a confirm allocation) is 3-4 years

not true. it's look thick but infact
Patek Philippe’s ref. 5172G has a 41mm diameter and a height of 11.45mm, A. Lange & Söhne’s 1815 Chronograph measures 39.5mm with a height of 11mm.

Even comparing with 5170G, which is the direct competition of 1815 chronograph
Patek Philippe Ref 5170 Chronograph. Case: 39.4mm x 10.8mm height

If yr buddy since 2017 tell you patek allocate 2-3 nautilus and aquanaut every year to him, you will also think what’s the big deal about PP lol 😂

reason why i chose the 1815 vs 5170 is because of the movement and also the numerals on the dial

Patek movement - very old style highly technical swiss watchmaking, abit boring.
Lange movement - although its german, the blue screws and engraving makes it more lively and nicer to look at. Especially the balance cock

Lange is one of the most respectable watch brands alongside PP and VC. The only thing why they are less recognised than PP I guess is due to a shorter history. Other than that, they are tremendously highly rated. Love the way how some of their dial looks. It’s so beautiful. The only reason why I won’t be getting Lange is because my watch buying budget is totally locked with Rolex and PP
Thanks for sharing. wow the complexity in that movement is indeed astonishing. very intricate. yeah i'm still very new in my watch collecting journey and have only been exposed to rolex which doesn't have the prettiest of movements which is why I assume their entire range is all closed case.

my current interest in horology is also quite shallow in the sense that my appreciation for mechanical watches mainly lies in that they can perform various functions from just kinetic energy from the wearer. don't have much exposure to the trinity or Lange outside of videos from Ted Baldassarre, bark and jack. it has yet to progress to the stage where i can appreciate finishes like you do.

The shape and design of Lange watches reminds me of a pocket watch actually. They all seemed quite dressy and look like meticulous crafted pieces of art. too dressy for me but then again, also cannot afford lol

Nah. I ok only. Still got more to learn

Big 3 or holy trinity is because of finishing, history and grand comp movement. That's also why rolex isn't part of the big 3. Rolex is a middle range luxury watch only.
Lange is German made. That's why they are not part of the big 3 since watch making has always been the Swiss thing.
Another one is JLC. Watchmaker's watchmaker. Not sure why they are not part of the big 3. They have history, movements but I think missing the finishing part.
But now the holy trinity thing, not alot people talk about it anymore. Just something I still follow.
For me
AP - Case and bracelet finishing the best
PP - Movement finishing one of the best
VC - movement finishing solid

Shoik sia experienced so many different brands already! yeah surprised a lot of people don't know rolex isn't top tier when it comes to luxury watch making. branding and exposure top tier only. which makes me wonder how they even got there? surely cannot be just through their marketing team?!

marketing and branding
and since its "affordable", most people would know about it
to some, 10k is alot of money on a watch so they would think wow, must be ultra luxury
but there's 100k and 1m watches - and those really not alot people would know.

like you would know ferrari and lambo, but outside of those, there's bugatti, pagani, koenigsegg, hennessy etc. not alot people would know
