ADs usually say waiting time could go up to few years. Wtf! Got money also no use. Need people connection.
Funny that all the desirable pieces all end up with grey dealers.

Yeah. Always wondered on the economics why ADs choose to sell to grey dealers. Logical (at least to me) possibilities:

1. Grey dealers provide AD sales volume for less popular pieces as well so AD will to sell them the SS subs and GMTs and daytonas etc in return for the sales volume these grey dealers commit/provide.

2. Grey and AD got own kopi $ arrangement

If is point 1, then grey also must find lobang to sell and profit on the less popular pieces.

Need sexperts like GX to advise. But trade secret prob cannot divulge :D

If one take a closer look at what watch the rolex AD sale personnel wear.

I spotted, Hulk, Batman, stainless steel Daytona (116520 and 116500), male and females staff wore these as well.

When I ask them how they got it, they just smile and avoid my question.

OF COURSE THEY HAVE FIRST DIPS ON EVERY NEW SHIPMENT OF ROLEX WATCHES @ retail or staff pricing la. :o

Any rolex watch to buy and invest in? Something that would appreciate and cost less than 10k

Past performance may not be indicative of future returns but if you believe in past performance, generally a rolex should (eventually) appreciate beyond its cost price.

Only a matter of how long. Varies across models and also depends how good a discount or high a premium you initially gotten/paid.

To be honest, buying watch is not for investment but enjoyment, the thrill of a watch chase, a sense of achievement and the envy of others.

If you wear your watch for 2 years and still can break even, this is good enough le.

It you want investment do it the proper way, blue chips, bit-coins, FX or other established trading platform.

The other spectrum of watch collecting is watch flipping, this my friend is not collecting nor enjoying but 100% into making quick profits. (Your purchases purely depends on trends and demands, you might not like the watch at all but you are buying for the sake of profiting)

So ultimately which side are you on?

Likewise, there are so called wine investors. They have no idea wines they are purchasing taste like, just buying them purely rely on reviews and speculation hoping to make some money out of them is like wtf. They get burnt BIG time.

I wonder how many on this forum are seriously into actual watch makings and histories behind them beside wearing them?

Does anyone know whether the prices of rolex in Singapore been adjusted? Apparently rolex UK had a price adjustment on 1st Oct and wonder if any country followed them.

Apparently, malaysia rolex did have a price adjustment twice (September and October)

So currently as models you recommend for investing?

Historically sport models tend to appreciate better.

Problem now is that the popular ones are extremely difficult to get hold of.

Can consider the Explorer 1. Should be within your budget and not entirely impossible to buy at AD.

But to reiterate what others said. Buy the watch to enjoy. Many investment instruments out there that can give you better and more predictable returns if your objective is on investment returns.

Good luck!

Is it because of removing the GST, then adjusted to include the Sales Tax? (Looks like a domestic thingy for Malaysia)

Yes, UK, Australia adjusted as of 1 Oct.

Anyone with local contacts with AD got more reliable info?
