Hi everyone,
I’ll like to seek your expertise and advise on the following.

Ordered a Rolex through a grey dealer (with a physical store here). Was informed the watch has arrived (brought in by person) but the warranty card will only be here at the end of the month (by post/courier).

I’m unable to comprehend how this may be this case, did asked the grey dealer sales executive about it but was not provided with a proper explanation.

Can kindly help to enlighten:
1. Is the warranty card issued 1-1 with the watch by Rolex to an AD and should be the case too when it changes hands between AD and buyer/grey seller?
2. Are the warranty card details i.e. the serial no., the model + bracelet + dial reference, and the AD name + address pre-printed on the card by Rolex before it is given to the AD?

It is possible, some ADs overseas are holding on to the warranty cards of certain sports models to prevent reselling. They will only send the card to you few months later.

AFAIK this AD in UK will hold on to it for a year.

Anyway now got this Instagram account getting very popular where they sell rolex warranty cards lol. Looks like the real deal

I read about this on TRF, happening with a number of ADs in Europe. Some withhold the warranty card up to one year. In this case though, the warranty would have commenced and lapsed by the duration it was withheld. However when I asked the grey dealer what will be the purchase date on the card they assured it will be current month. Hence still puzzling to me.

Yea I saw, hence will like to find out if Rolex issues the card pre-printed with all the watch and AD information to the AD, or are ADs given blank cards which they then print the info on at the point of sale?

1. Some Rolex AD does withhold the warranty card for sometime to prevent reselling. You can tell the grey dealer to collect the watch and card together if you're afraid.

2. Of course, all are printed, except for the owner's name and dated. Some AD print them because they have the machine to do it.
But most of the time are hand-written on the spot.
if you're lucky, no date and no name.
But the card usually will be activated by the AD via rolex system.
so no difference, at most you can cheat a few months off the 5 years warranty.
Rolex reserve the right not to accept if date is not written for warranty claim. Name not so particular.

rolex will give the watch and the card together as a set to the AD.

they don't just give out blank cards to AD.

Is it then possible that a grey dealer may replace the original warranty card with a replica so as to protect the identity of the AD whom they source the watches from?
If so, the watch will lose its 5 years warranty without the correct original warranty card right?
Any tips to share on how to check on the authenticity of a warranty card?

I don't think the grey dealer will do that.
But you never know.

Also, should I get it polished too? How much would that be? Should I get it done at RSC too? Or is there a cheaper & safer alternative?

Polishing number 1 place will be at Excel watch centre (#02-41) @ Golden Landmark. I heard alot of grey dealers pass the job to him due to cost and the finishing is good.

Couple of ex-rolex technician at Golden landmark since you are there, Mr Hendry, David chew, Mr Lim.

All reasonable pricing~
