TP Link Archer BE805 - any users?

Not recommended, 6GHz wireless backhaul not working.

HB710 6GHz band may become useless.

No IoT or Guest Network on the HB710 side.

Support will be a nightmare, TP-Link and StarHub do not support such a combination (consumer model mixed with Aginet model).

How about running wired backhaul with BE805 and HB710 as node on MyRepublic 10gb connection?

Or should just sell HB710 and get other archer be routers to form the mesh network?

You can ask MR whether they will support such a combination or not. My guess is that they will not.

But it may work if you forget about TP-Link EasyMesh, just set up HB710 in AP mode and use the same SSID/Password as the main EB810v. YMMV. Proceed at your own risk.

Currently I got both BE805 and HB710, just got to consider which route to go before the technician comes to setup this week.

it’s either I give up on be805 or hb710.

I tested this combination myself and my consultation was to forget about TP-Link EasyMesh between the two.

Yes that is fine in terms of EasyMesh, but with a few catches.

1) single node to single node comparison: the coverage of HB710 is not that good, Archer BE805 is way better

2) If you use Ethernet Backhaul, only one 10G LAN port of the satellite HB710 node is left. No more ports available from the main HB710.

3) Because of two, some users may need to add a 10G/2.5G switch to use the other LAN ports in the rooms.

4) Archer BE805 has faster CPU and more FE functions like WireGuard VPN Server and Wireguard VPN Client. FW updates of Archer BE805 is also much more frequent.

Basically Archer BE805 at S$300 (Carousell estimated price, can be a bit lower) is of better value than HB710 at S$192 (StarHub cash and carry price, Carousell can be a bit cheaper).

It is up to you to decide which to go.

I noticed my iPhone 15 PM does not connect automatically to 6GHz network automatically.
I tried forgetting the network and re-entered the password and still to no avail.
The Auto-Join is enabled too.
Anybody has experienced this and managed to solve this?

Currently using be805 with archer ax72 easymesh... Works very well.

Had some previous ping issues that were solved with swapping out the Asus routers. Although they were working fine in aimesh mode, only had problems after I switched to repeater mode.

Yes, I have tried AP mode, no issues, behind main OpenWRT virtual router.

Kind of wasting the CPU power of Archer BE805 but my OpenWRT virtual router has even more powerful Intel N100 CPU and much more firmware feature.

Any issues you encounter?

Not sure what you mean, when a wireless router is configured in AP mode, DHCP server is disabled automatically.

Maybe you want to post your screenshot to explain what you mean here.

Internet >> DHCP Server >> Off>> Save

It will shows "Operation failed."

Is it supposed to be like that ?

any workaround to force the IoT devices (cctv, digital lock, soundbar) to connect to my agent/slave node?

The master/main/controller is located in db and all of the devices all over the flat are connected to the node in DB Even those devices that are very near to the agent/slave node.

I tried
1. Turn off the master/main/controller for 15 mins, and then turned it back on, and all of the IoT devices are still connected to the master/controller.
2. Set the transmission power to LOW for IoT SSIDs, but all still connected to master/main/controller node.
3. Factory reset both master and slave, but all IoT devices still connected to master/controller node

2. If 1 is yes, the only workaround is to connect those devices to my main network SSIDs (non-IoT SSID)?
3. In layman term, slave/satellite router does not broadcast IoT SSID?

1. Yes. If the distance is far, they will just lose connection.

2. IMHO this is not a proper workaround. It is not recommended to use WPA3 and WiFi 7 for the main SSID, which is not compatible with many IoT devices.

4. Disable EasyMesh, use the same SSID and password for the main node and the second node in AP mode. Both nodes still support IEEE 802.11 k/v so you may still get roaming working properly. You can further play with the transmission power and placement to have better roaming if you want to try.

Both the main node and second node -- one main SSID with WPA3, one IoT SSID with WPA2.
