TP Link Archer BE805 - any users?

Hi. I been using Asus router for many years.

recently upgrade to 6bps but is limited by my Asus by-ax6000 2.5gbps wan port.

was issued with archer be805 from m1.

Was wondering if I should sell and upgrade to a wifi 7 Asus router or use it.

I have 20+ small devices(vacuum, cctv, iot) connected, two 24/7 nas servers serving files, 7 mobile/tablet. So there’s a lot of concurrent connectivity required.

any be805 users can comment?

Should be quite ok according to m1 and some other forum users. U might want another to form easy mesh

Anyone using BE805 with Singtel fiber and TV (ONT)?

I had gotten a M1 set to replace my aging Asus router. I had enabled IPTV with Singtel profile on LAN4 but my Singtel TV set is not able to get a connection (TV stuck in loading).

My setup is as follows:
EB805
- LAN4 : Singtel TV set
- Internet: Singtel ONT

When I revert back to my Asus router, the TV set is able to load just fine.

I will suggest you factory reset the Archer BE805 and then set it up again.

I did a factory reset and followed the guide which was exactly what I did earlier. I also power cycled the ONT and router a few times but to no avail.

I dropped an email to TP-link support. Hopefully they have some insight on this if not I am now ended up with s large paperweight.

It is strange that Archer BE805 will have such regression.

Hopefully TP-Link can help you to fix the issue.

Worst case is to get a cheap TP-Link TL-SG105E smart switch between your legacy SingTel ONT and Archer BE805.

Anyone got the issue where the router will dish out IPv6 where it is already turned off at start up ?

Which IPv6 addr are you seeing?
If it starts with fe80:xxx, that's link-local and auto assigned by OS.

As per the official guide, during setup, you connect Satellite 10G LAN port to the controller 10G LAN.

After the setup, you can keep as it is (satellite 10G WAN port will work as a 10G LAN port), or switch to the 10G WAN port to avoid confusing.

From TP-Link EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul FAQ.
When adding a new router to EasyMesh, please use the satellite router’s LAN port as the backhaul port. After EasyMesh is built, all the ports on the satellite router (WAN, LAN, WAN/LAN) are available for Ethernet backhaul.

Scenario 1: Change wireless backhaul to Ethernet backhaul

If both the main router and satellite router are already in an EasyMesh network, and the firmware that supports Ethernet backhaul has been installed, you could directly connect the main router’s LAN port to any Ethernet port of the satellite via an Ethernet cable to use Ethernet backhaul.

Scenario 2: Add a new satellite router to EasyMesh

At this point, please don’t configure the satellite and make sure it is under factory mode at first, if it was configured before, reset the satellite router to factory defaults.

Then connect your main router’s LAN port to the satellite’s LAN port via an Ethernet cable.

Notes:

1. When adding a new router to EasyMesh, please use the satellite router’s LAN port as the backhaul port. After EasyMesh is built, all the ports on the satellite router (WAN, LAN, WAN/LAN) are available for Ethernet backhaul.

2. As long as the Ethernet backhaul is built successfully, the wireless backhaul will disconnect automatically. Similarly, if the Ethernet backhaul is disconnected for some reasons, devices will rebuild the mesh network via the wireless backhaul.

Satellite's WAN port will act as a LAN port after MESH is established.
so it does not matter which port the ethernet cable is connected to, 10GbE WAN or 10GbE LAN port.

Not recommended, 6GHz wireless backhaul not working.

HB710 6GHz band may become useless.

No IoT or Guest Network on the HB710 side.

Support will be a nightmare, TP-Link and StarHub do not support such a combination (consumer model mixed with Aginet model).
