Thanks for the update! can i confirm that the mesh steering can be done on 6GHz too?

I am now considering between myrepublic BE805 or Starhub's EB810v, TP-link confirmed that BE805 cannot use 6ghz to do backhaul. Neither can the mesh synchronize the 6ghz band; only 5GHz and 2.4GHz can synchronize between nodes.

It is interesting that TP-Link Archer BE805 (consumer model) can not use 6GHz band for wireless backhaul.

But indeed TP-Link EasyMesh is still evolving and you may need to be a bit patient for it to be mature. That being said, it is still better than the previous OneMesh technology supported by the router and extenders.

The wifi coverage is quite good for me. Must put the router in the right location high high up there..

Single router performance should be decent for EB810v and indeed placement is important.

The ISPs actually have some good tips in terms of wireless router placement.

On the other hand, it also depends on floor plan, certain floor plan is just difficult to have the full coverage with single router.

One example in recent discussions -- the household shelter's location makes it difficult to cover the full flat with single node.

Shouldn't be any issues - an AP acts like a client itself so you can still manage it (has a LAN IP), but it acts like a switch for Wifi users (thus extends the coverage - hence you often hear it called a repeater too). So whether its ASUS or some other vendor, it should be fine. The only gotcha is if you're talking mesh - that's typically vendor specific, but a mesh is just multiple APs that basically have better coordination and management for handling clients/roaming between APs etc.

You will need to have 802.11k, 802.11v, 802.11r support/enable to support seamless roaming.

Doesn't work like that, you need certain standards to have seamless transition such as 802.11k/v/r

Your method at most, once it DC or out of range from main router, it will auto connect to your AP because of same SSID and password, won't be seamless.

You can update it by using the Aginet app, navigating to Internet Connection, and then selecting IPv6.

Thanks for clarifying. Roughly got an idea. Is it worth getting 2 eb810v via the Starhub plan? Or just get another Asus router out in the market.

If both eb810v, is it better to use their mesh set up or use the 2nd one as AP?

go for third-party routers such as ASUS and you'll never regret it

this EB810v is a service-provider router and don't expect it to be on a par with third-party (consumer) models

True, this EB810v is just a basic wifi 7 router and some advanced features are not available. It is just cheaper a bit and good for our pocket.

I dunno.. unless you have some specific capability requirement, even if the EB810v is basic.. meshing 2 of them properly is going to be better than EB810v+ASUS AP - the EB810v is still doing all the work and providing all the networking capabilities because its acting as the router, the ASUS AP is providing zero function in that scenario. Now on the other hand if you ditch the EB810v completely and go with a 10gbit ASUS Router + ASUS AP - then you've got better network capabilities since the ASUS will be more feature rich.

I'm contemplating to get 2 of EB810v or just get the plan + ASUS router. I dont really do much network config for my routers, so no intention to get a 10gbit ASUS router to swap as main router as I doubt I will be using much of the features too. Getting 2 of EB810v is mainly for their mesh set up, Wifi 7, 10gbit port and the signal coverage. Oh and of course of its price too, since its like $300+ for another 1 buying through Starhub contract.

Just to share, i have obtained auto firmware updates on M1 network, on the aginet app, contrary to what was expected. I have an x86 openwrt router and using eb810v as an AP.
