I think nothing they can do la.
Yup, L2 came down to ascertain issue.
Did the basic troubleshooting etc. and brought down another unit of EB810v to exchange.
I mentioned to ascertain the firmware first, no point changing if the firmware is the still the same in the end - not resolving the issue at all and wasting the unit.
What SH did?
So in the end as usual, escalate to L3 for investigation.
Get back to me by next Tuesday, 12 AUG 2025.
Then if still cmi, change a new unti for me and then take it from there again.

The smart SH L2 La, It should be referred to L3 straight away. Let me share a joke with everyone here. I wrote to TP-Link about no Firmware update for EB810v, then they replied that they are unable to push down the update to my router and asked me to click on firmware update to update my router's firmware. Now i replied, please make the new firmware available online first so that i can update it using the firmware update button. From their reply can see that they are very basic only. Now, I emailed to IMDA too.

i just used another mobile phone to take a photo of the router's app showing that the firmware is up to date and yet the latest version is a 2024 july version. I just called L1 and referred to L3 straightaway with my photo. By tomorrow they will call back. EB810v users please report the case to Starhub instead of selling the router away. My concern is whether there is any security issues with this router and whether it will endanger our network since it was not updated for so long? If so many people use this EB810v and if got serious issues then will it endanger the users and others in Singapore?

But Tplink SH, is just dont bother, they already got CLS lv1 certified until 2026. They rather soft lock EB810v/BE800 to 1GB ram when inside contains 2GB ram, just to artificially segment their products :o

https://www.csa.gov.sg/cls-items/iot-w0104

Actually TP-Link has got the highest level CLS Level 4 for EB810v and extend the security support to May 2028.

Model No.: EB810v
CLS Level: Level 4

Date of Issuance: 22 May 2025
Date of Expiration: 21 May 2028

They have done the same for HB810 for Singtel, highest CLS Level 4 and extended the security support to July 2027.

Security is one aspect -- CLS Level 4 is good in this area.

Functionality is another thing -- CLS Level does not cover that one. So it is still good to press TP-Link/Starhub to fix the issues.

I stated to not waste time and resource to the L1 CSO liao, come down verify the same thing for what.
But bobain, SOP to have L2 ascertain issue then escalate up the chain.
L1 confirm basic, cause their hands are tied too, not much they are able to do honestly.

SH stated that product is vendor's responsibility to push down firmware upgrades.
But I questioned that if it's direct purchase likely yes, but I checked the sticker at the back of my EB810v, there's an additional "SH" stated.
Which likely means the firmware is vetted/config for SH ain't it.

So, make the firmware available then push down to all EB810v owners.

can also link them to tplink US website for BE800 that got latest updates

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-be800/v1/#Firmware

We can see there are security, bug fixes, enhancements released this year.

Wow, more reference to whack SH.
Pretty logical that there's definitely updates for the router, but likely restricted by SH unwillingness to go config and push it down.

Yes, i think all the users should push SH & TP-LInk to resolve the issue. I have replied to TP-Link and asked them to make the new firmware available online so that users can update via the update button and i also email Starhub and called 1633 and shared the photo i took to backend. Later i will email IMDA and show them the photo. I will try my best to push for this to be resolved.

this is sinkapore. only AWARE got some persuasive powers.

The rest like CASE, lemon laws, IMDA are mostly background noise when come down to end consumers :o

I believe IMDA will work with SH and TP-Link and they will get the help of others agencies to due with them. They are not working alone. Remember the Peak hours slow down for Starhub, many of us pushed for it and it was resolved. I believe there are ways to do it. The Nokia ONR also we pushed for change to ONT. I also got my ONT and EB810v at discounted price.

IMDA is the apex governing body, so they should be the one that have the authority to push ISP and possibly vendors.

Agreed, only when collectively more userse feedback then will these corporations take notice and action.
I mentioned to SH to work and push down to all users for the firmware upgrade, shouldn't only be the ones that feedback only.
Otherwise, need post online and use socmed to move them liao.

If so then good luck to SH.
Let's see what the update is when I have one.
SH just called earlier to share that no updates from L3 yet, will keep me updated.

Those especially with Plat status for SH and using EB810v or even any other routers from SH and observed no firmware upgrades, should really call in and pressure them.

Strongly Agree as there are many users using their routers and can not afford to have security issues on their routers or else big trouble.
