No new router, Tech say this is the latest router and no version 2 and nothing wrong with the router. Support say this router is starhub firmware and only Starhub backend can update the firmware of the router. Next time i will buy own router.
Right, so in fact this is Starhub's responsibility then which Starhub is unsure about even. :s13:
Let's see how IMDA proceeds to deal with Starhub.

I think you just got dumb support and maybe confused - SH's own website says TP responsible for firmware and we know for a fact the firmware isn't from Starhub when it updates.

I'm sure they can work on it - SH are the only ones with a contract with TP-Link (the only ones who can make and supply a firmware). So all consumers can do is ask SH for new updates/features, and all SH can do is work with TP-Link to get that done (under whatever agreement SH and TP have).

If TP-link is working on it ... then I would rather they take abit more time to SIT. UAT ..make sure the update is stable 1st before release ...else will cause another production incident 😅

Yes because SH is the only big buyer from TP-Link EB810 so of course can ask them to do. I suggested to do away if TP refused to update firmware.

wah. . i am not in the firmware industry .....but development, test and release cycle got so fast one meh? 😅
It is possible that they already have studied the firmware a few days before they got the complaint and then now they got it and trying to look at it carefully. Yes it may not be that fast especially when they want to add in extra features like anti-virus and security suite. They must get the security company agreement first then can add it in. May be in mid or end Sept then got the firmware update. But it is ok.

Yes, unless the agreement is for TP-Link to manage the firmware upgrade which doesn't seem to be the case.
Otherwise, should be ISP if it's an ISP set - configured specifically for ISP.

I will not care, i just tell them what is required and let them settle themselves.

Everything so far points to it being the case.

SH website says TP-Link manages:
  • Tech Support
  • Firmware Security Updates
TP-Link website says they will support security updates, and the firmware comes from TP-Link's AWS hosts.

How can they be any more clear that SH has nothing to do with the firmware.

Yeah, but the issue began when contacting TP-Link where TP-Link seems confused at such a statement/request.
Not sure why are you so uptight, if you read how and why the issue started to begin with.

Customers ain't privy to what arrangements businesses have most of the time, even if communicated there might be changes that isn't made known.
Which seems to be the case for me at least.

I will just wait and see. Since TP-Link replied that they are doing it.
