Seems like they are planning another firmware update in “a few weeks”

I raised a few problems around MLO and dropping 5G connection especially with consumer devices like smart TV and soundbar, both of which they said will address. Hopefully.

do channel your concerns directly to TP-LINK so that they can address and fix them.
Oh wow, they as in SH reverted that updates are upcoming soon?

So on the MLO staying ON in EasyMesh agent/mesh node despite being set to OFF in controller/main ap issue, TP-Link support has replied:

" Thank you for contacting TP-Link support.
Your kind feedback is really appreciated and is a valuable advice for us to improve our product. Our relative colleagues have been aware of that and confirm that there is an update for it soon.
It is very suggested to keep an eye on update. "

So we can keep an eye out for a firmware update fix 'soon'.

I just bought an extra HB710 to mesh with the existing HB710, and I too noticed the issue where the agent is broadcasting an MLO SSID and it can't be turned off, even when the main controller is off.

Did TP-Link address this? The above quote was what i could find.

Actually it is ok to broadcast MLO SSID, you do not need it just do not connect to MLO SSID. I also never use MLO and i use 6Ghz SSID with my office laptop with wifi 6e.

To disable Multi-Link Operation (MLO) on a TP-Link router while in Access Point (AP) mode, you can use either the web management interface or the Tether mobile app.

Method 1: Web Management Interface
  1. Connect your computer or smartphone to the TP-Link router's Wi-Fi network or LAN port.
  2. Open a web browser and go to http://tplinkwifi.net or the router's current LAN IP address.
  3. Log in with your administrator password.
  4. Navigate to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings.
  5. Scroll down to the MLO Settings or Enable MLO Network section.
  6. Uncheck the box for Enable MLO or toggle the switch to the Off position.
  7. Click Save or Apply to confirm the changes.

Method 2: TP-Link Tether App
  1. Launch the TP-Link Tether app on your mobile device and log in to your router.
  2. Tap on the Tools tab at the bottom right.
  3. Select Wireless Settings.
  4. Locate the MLO network option.
  5. Toggle the switch to disable the MLO feature.

Important Notes
  • Deco Systems: If you are using a TP-Link Deco system in AP mode, go to the Wi-Fi Settings menu in the Deco app to find and disable the MLO Network toggle.
  • Separation of Networks: By default, TP-Link Wi-Fi 7 routers often use a separate SSID for MLO. If you disable MLO, devices will connect to the standard 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or 6GHz bands using their individual SSIDs or through Smart Connect.
  • Compatibility: MLO is a Wi-Fi 7 feature. If you are experiencing connectivity issues with older legacy devices, disabling MLO is often recommended.

Thanks for reply, but the issue is when I log into the Agent’s web interface, I cannot disable the MLO, or change the name etc. It is only in read only mode.

I can only disable MLO at the main controller side (which I have) but the setting does not propagate to the agent.

No luck with the Aginet app either.

I guess I’ll just leave it for now.

A noob here hoping to get some quick views on whether my plan below is sound.

Moving into a new 5 room BTO, am offered the Starhub 10 gbps @$33.59 per month with free HB710. Am considering adding on another EB810v to act as main router in the DB box, so that I can have lan connection to the living room (for TV) and bedrooms (2 rooms, for desktop/laptops). Plan to use the HB710 as mesh in the furthest room for better wifi coverage around the house.

Am not sure if it is worth spending the money for a EB810v (is this router worth it?), and also whether EB810v is really compatible with HB710. Thanks in advance!

I too used to consider the EB810v, but in the end bought a second HB710.

Main reason is I read many ppl online have issues with the EB810v dropping connections or resetting. Whereas I don’t see similar complaints for the HB710. People create threads when they have problems. Not seeing anything is a good thing.

Next is my concern about the limited LAN ports. I then figured the only device that I REALLY need a LAN connection is my PC for gaming. Everything else can be wifi. So my connection is ONT -> HB710 -> HB710 -> PC. So far all working well.

Just take note if you use a DLNA server then that won’t work ( none of my devices can see it). I use the router’s USB port as a workaround

My EB810V just died. Stuck in reboot loop suddenly. No amount of reboots and hard reset could revive the set.

Got pushed around by Starhub and TPLink. TP-Link cant provide help via the support hotline because the normal support agents are not equipped to support this device and require a "specialist" to call back.

Eventually forced Starhub to come back will charged for their hubtrooper service.

Bad experience from this router and also Starhub. Will stay away from TP-Link going forward.

how old is the router?

You mean StarHub will charge you for coming down to change the router?

Less than a year.

Yes, they will charge for transportation fees and if they assessed that there is nothing wrong with the router, it will be another 40+

Good evening. That's normal and not just for router but ONT too. If there's a valid reason for the trooper to be there then charges should be waived. Still consumers ought to check their bills for erroneous charges and contest them.

No la, you do not know how they work. You call their support and tell them router die then ask them to waive the fee and when the person come ask the person to put down the remark that the router spoilt and changed.
Ask the person to waive all fee. After the incident check your bill and call in to ask for waive as it is their router fault that cause you inconvenient so you are asking to waive all the fee. After the person gone, he will send you a survey via sms, the last question how to improve on the service? you put you expect Starhub to waive all fee as they have caused inconvenient to you.

Asus RT-BE92U is just one 10G Wan/Lan and 2.5G Wan/Lan and three 2.5G Lan so it can not support a 10 Gbps LAN to a computer when we are on 10 Gbps internet. Better to have one 10G Wan and one 10G Lan then can buy or else it is just a 2.5G internet connection.
Hello, do you have any recommendation for VQ user on 10gbps plan?
I want
- wifi7,
- sfp+ incoming 10g wan/wan 10gbe
- another local 10g wan

that’s not isp specific router Thanks in advance
