I bought an EB810v before to try as a mesh node on my Singtel broadband. Worked fine, but seeing so many complaints about it, glad I sold it off.

You’re better off getting Singtel’s HB810 equivalent, where firmware updates are more frequent and you can download the firmware from Singtel unlike Starhub’s EB810v where you can only depend on Starhub to push down the firmware.
Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.

Question for u.

Which will U do in my use case scenario?

1)Just get the M1 bundled BE805 as main router and use a switch
2) get the Singtel hb810v as main router

I basically have another router in my MBR that will run in ap mode or via ethernet backhaul in mesh mode and it will be connected via ethernet backhaul to the main router 1 x 10g Lan port. The other 1x 10g wan port on main router is for connection to ONT. So for my desktop that I am using ethernet, if I am using be805, I will be capping It to 1gb since the be805 Lan ports are all 1gb.

That's the reason why I thought of using the one from starhub or Singtel since the Lan ports of those are 2.5g.

So for my use case which will U go for? Be805 with a switch or HB810V and can do away with a switch

*Btw I already bought a tp link 10g 5 port switch. The sx105. However, heard ppl say running hot etc, and also my pc network card is only max at 2.5g anyway. So I might just sell that switch away since it's still sealed and bought locally

I just updated my router to the latest firmware. However, it seems to totally break my OpenVPN setup. Now i can't connect any devices back to my house when I'm outside. Anyone has the same issue?

Hmm, this is supposed to be an existing anomaly even with the older firmware version.

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/661992

Model: EB810v
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.4.0 3.0.0 v608b.0 Build 240122 Rel.66930n

I have set up OpenVPN on my EB810V router.

I find that it does not work. Although the VPN does connect, I find that I cannot access services on my internal network (e.g., HTTPS) when the SPI Firewall is enabled.

If I disable the SPI Firewall, the same services are accessible.

Starhub will update only if you are their SH user so this router is hard to sell. Starhub do not have access to your router so how they update.

According to this post (#5443), it is possible to update outside of SH network.

Disclaimer: Just posting something i found while googling. I have never tested it personally, i don't think the poster has either.

Indeed I have not tested it myself but rather based on other users' very early report.

With the recent FW updates for TP-Link EB810v, we need further confirmation from EB810v users who are not using StarHub network (probably not on MR network either).

I have tested HB710 under SingTel network but there was no FW update. The HB710 is used as the main router for my StarHub 5Gbps plan and there seems to be still no further FW update either for a long time.

I will not recommend you to use EB810v if you are not using StarHub network.

It is easier to get TP-Link Archer BE805 at below S$300 for BNIB unit, and much lower cost for 2nd hand unit. It is a consumer model with more frequent Firmware updates and better FW features than TP-Link EB810v.

Haha, your English is okay, fixed the typo.

For users not using StarHub, I will recommend TP-Link Archer BE805 and not EB810v.
IMHO.
This week I got sabo'ed by TPLINK. 2 router (old models) spoiled. 1 was BNIB.
Got saved by ASUS RT-86U ( same age as TPLINK router ). Just worried about security. 🤔

In Singapore, electronics equipment may be spoiled if not used for a long time.

Asus RT-AX86U is still well supported.

Asus RT-AC86U is EOLed but with recent security updates due to some security issues. So it can still be used for a while but better upgrade. RT-BE58U will be a good replacement at around S$80 BNIB (dumped by M1 users).

- Enhanced system stability.
- Enhanced input validation and refactored legacy string handling routines to ensure robust memory management.
- Mitigated security risks in AiCloud service by enforcing strict credential verification, implementing robust file path validation, and hardening command execution logic to prevent unauthorized access and manipulation of system resources.
- Implemented comprehensive validation and expanded command filtering in the web history API.
- Fixed a privilege escalation vector in the IFTTT token exchange mechanism
- Strengthened input validation and directory handling in the VPN configuration upload interface.
- Fixed an issue that allowed certain user settings to be bypassed, improving overall user control and protection.
