can anyone confirm now we don't need this router to access local channel on starhub tv+ box?
previously need so no choice, otherwise can't access local channel
i planning to just change the router since it's causing a lot of connection issue recently
Been a while since where you can utilise non-SH to access local SG channels as long you have internet connectivity.

How do I get access to Mediacorp Free-to-air channels via StarHub TV+ box?
You can enjoy free-to-air channels on the StarHub TV+ Box with an Internet connection from any Internet service provider. Simply login using your Hub iD and password.
For StarHub Fibre Broadband customers using a Smart WiFi / Smart WiFi MX2 / Smart WiFi Pro router or wired connection to the Linksys EA8100 / EA7500 router, there is no change required for your set-up and you can continue to enjoy free-to-air channels the same way you are used to.
If you do not have a StarHub TV+ Box, you can find out more about Digital TV from Mediacorp

As a StarHub Broadband subscriber, are there any differences in terms of the viewing experience for Mediacorp Free-to-air channels?
Great news! You can now enjoy Mediacorp free-to-air channels on the StarHub TV+ Box without the need to use a specific router setup for your StarHub Fibre Broadband.
With this change, the StarHub TV+ Box will be connecting to video streams for Mediacorp free-to-air channels over the Internet, similar to how Mediacorp’s mewatch app is providing Live TV access for their users. As such, there will be some differences in terms of your viewing experience.

Interesting to see the difference,
If i am reading it right, this also means even if we are using starhub router, we don't get multiple audio and subtitle support either.
Means i can change router already, getting fatigue from waiting for starhub to release firmware for performance improvement

Yup, it seems to be dependent on the source instead.
You can but what's the performance issue that you are facing?

I got 1 unit on ethernet backhaul but keep dropping the connection and backhaul wirelessly instead, resulting in full strength wifi with no internet connection. The ethernet cable no issue.
There is also the outstanding issue of being unable to turn off the mlo wifi from the satellite router

Ahh, you are running on mesh and it seems like it doesn't work reliably as supposed.
No updates/responses from SH/TP-Link?

my contract with SH is ending in end March. thinking of swapping to M1.

Will the EB810V + HB710 work with M1 BB? given both my router are from SH.

SH recontract has no 'no router' option 😓

Both will work with M1. The main question is about firmware updates.

As of now there is no recent confirmation in this forum that EB810v Firmware update works out of StarHub network. The reports were all from StarHub users.

There is also no confirmation that HB710 firmware update works out of StarHub/MR network. On the other hand, I do not see my HB710 get any update even under StarHub network.

In any case, you can sell the free bundled router. And StarHub has the best offer now anyway as per the reports in this forum.

StarHub current offer:
5Gbps Broadband @$29.55/mth
- 1x Free TP-Link HB710 WiFi 7 router
- Free $100 Shopping Vouchers -- upgraded to S$150 vouchers.

10Gbps Broadband @$44.49/mth
-1x Free TP-Link EB810v WiFi 7 router
- Free $250 Shopping Vouchers

10Gbps Broadband @$33.59/mth
-1x Free TP-Link HB710 WiFi 7 router
-No Voucher

Installation and activation fess waived
*24 months contract

BTW, some existing StarHub users may get even better 10Gbps recontract offer at S$30.49 per month with free HB710.

Can I just sold my HB710 to someone who use M1.

EB810v is having problem with Wifi 7 MLO and 6Ghz wifi signal coverage. Requested Starhub to email TP-Link to upgrade the firmware to resolve the issue and SH is willing to do it.

I don't use MLO as I find it disrupt other band like 2.4ghz and 5ghz range.
So I turn it off and the only band I find this router have issue is 2.4ghz.
Totally not working and broken constantly disconnecting.

Now I primary use 5GHZ or WIFI6/7 with no MLO turn on.
So far OK the only redudant bandwidth is 2.4ghz which I reserve for my Wireless printer.

Same issue, just use 5Ghz only.

Anyone knows how to do the following for this router:

1. Specify subnet and IP address range for WiFi clients only
2. Disable router admin login via WiFi, which was the source of a "backdoor" hack by a compromised device or attacker device logging onto my home WiFi network and changing DNS settings to a Russian DNS server to do MITM attack

This router seems like a letdown compared to my previous Linksys one...any way to flash openWRT or other similar firmware on this? At least it's free with broadband recontract...

1. This one can be done. There are video to show you how.
2. Not sure if you can do that.

As for me. i have set "allow access only to the following MAC address". This will basically kick all those devices that want to connect to your wifi without your permission. Similar to guest network access

Question - How do I connnect the EB810V to NordVPN via the router (not through client on OS)?

I dont see the "VPN Client" section under "Advanced" in the configuration page - tplinkwifi.net. Only a single "VPN" section which doesnt allow me to add client

Btw, am on Firmware Version:0.21.0 3.0.0 v608b.0 Build 260116 Rel.38041n_Beta - Yes, a beta firmware TPLINK shared that fixed my MLO refusing to turn off issue. Has not received the proper firmware update that should have come by Feb

Do not use Nord VPN for your internet connection as it will slow you down as it can not support 10Gbps speed. I stop using this VPN after i sign up Homehub UltraSpeed. That is the latest firmware. Starhub never ask TP-Link to update the firmware. Please complain. The existing firmware is causing a lot of problem for 6Ghz wifi with 320Mhz channel and Starhub just refuse to ask TP-Link to update the firmware to resolve the issue. Affected users please complain loud loud to Starhub.

Do you have logs on MLO and 6ghz drop-off / issues?

I am speaking to the engineer and can submit the logs to him for resolution.

I owned two EB810v. Occasionally my company laptop occasionally disconnect from internet( 2.4ghz & 5ghz). i had to change to AP instead of mesh in order to fix this issue.

Anyone encounter the same? Iphone, desktop were fine though

I think this (missing VPN client function support) is the common missing feature of TP-Link Service Provider models like EB810v/HB710/HB410/HB810/HB611-SGST. Unlikely you will get this feature enhancement any time soon.

The other major missing feature is Wireguard VPN server.

For those who want better firmware features, TP-Link Archer BE805 is a good alternative, dual 10G ports and quad 1G ports (not as good as EB810v with dual 10G ports and quad 2.5Gbe ports). Archer BE805 is a consumer model with more frequent firmware updates and more firmware features.

Carousell BNIB price should be similar to EB810v, dumped by M1 users.

For EB810V the 2.4ghz and 5ghz can kick devices out especially if idle too long.
Best is to turn off band steering to solve this issue if not it will kick devices
that are idle too long.

Difference between Mesh and AP mode is the SSID so depend which you prefer.
If you want more stable AP will be better as there will be additional SSID for devices in further location.
There are no right or wrong setup cuz it still depends on your placement and positioning.

I myself own only 1 EB810V and 1 access point to cover WIFI dead points.
