TP-Link EB810v - Quick overview

Anyone experienced your EB810 just powered off by itself?

I had experienced it twice today..

Did the usual on/off the power point, plug in/out the power cable to the router before the unit power up again.

Never faced this issue from the beginning of usage, stable.

Nvr experienced with other brand too..
the router is placed in the same open space as my previous router so I don’t think it is overheat.

Good news is the latest AX72 firmware, v1_ 1.4.6, allows to use EB810 webpage for wireless firmware update when in easy mesh configuration. Need to update via Ethernet cable previously.

No respond when i clicked the check for update. Nothing. I almost give up on ISP router. No one email IMDA to compliant the issue.

Err.. email IMDA regarding firmware update?
I think is up to ISP what is the firmware cycle like, doubt IMDA can do anything.
FYI retail model will have more firmware update than ISP models.

In my opinion is for the better cuz too frequent firmware update can cause issues.
I been using SH ISP issued router for very long, last time was Linksys SH set
than now TP-link.

Linksys wise TBH their firmware are buggy sometimes as I do face strange issue.
Luckily for SH set the firmware is too frequent else dealing with bugs is really...

I also highlighted that many users are using this router and we can not afford that. When a firmware is too old it will have security risk and at least must update once a year. I think someone else better email to IMDA and Starhub.

Usually Telco model update is quite poor.
Not sure how much different in hardware compared to retail model and how to flash them to retain model so we can get support from manufacturer directly.

I also highlighted that many users are using this router and we can not afford that. When a firmware is too old it will have security risk and at least must update once a year. I think someone else better email to IMDA and Starhub.

IMDA probably cannot do much to drive the Telco. Teleco probably also has limited knowledge to test and release or push down these firmware.

No it is TP-Link who is the one updating the firmware and ISP just test and push down these firmware. Regardless the reason, if they do not have the knowledge they can sell the standard consumer router instead of a ISP custom firmware router. They can outsource the testing to TP-Link and let one TP-Link Staff sit in their office for 1 to 2 months to test it out. TP-Link put this router as **** which meant that they will provide firmware update but now they did not provide so is it illegal? I am not sure. Users can complaint they lebal this router as **** but actual no update at all. In 2025 i actually email IMDA to get the update done for us. May be someone can write a strong letter to IMDA and Starhub.

But the fw is not make available in tplink support site.
Looking at similar tplink issued by Singtel. They already at fw certified at 4* by our Cyber Security authority

FYI if you want your home to secure is not just router but PC side also.
Xiaofan above post already mentioned that routers sold or issued in SG.
These routers have been certified by IMDA as well as CSA to ensure the router
are compliant with telco standards especially against security threats etc.

Firmware level is just a software level, there are more towards Networking security
than just firmware. Telco side, vendor managing the networking equipment etc.
Not sure why are you so concern with the firmware.

While if you ask me in my field, I seen many home users PC being comprised.
Either due to never do security patching motherboard BIOS level as well as
Windows level.

Home PC security is more than just firmware if you ask me, have I seen hacker/scammer
hack a home before. Yes I have so is not just to fault ISP or IMDA not mandating firmware
to patch router so your home will be secured.

Actually Starhub can follow Singtel to make the new firmware available for users to download. For safety i put my smart cameras on my guess wifi.

Thanks for the info. How about HB711? Date of expiration does not means anything right? FW released today may get new hack tomorrow anyway. Important is how is the Telco or manufacturer keeping the patch up to date.

Routers normally dont need fans to cool them down. My router inside my db box with the cabinet door closed with zero ventilation at all still working well after 2 years. Even i also praying my router to be spoiled but it still wont give up. in the end I gave up and sign a new contract with starhub and changed a new router.
