mesh is to use wifi backhaul,if using wired then better buy normal access point, it's more cheaper and more feature

AP does not work as well ,the handover blows, as there is no hand over !
I lost count of the number of times I have to off and on my wifi just to connect to the ap that is closer to me.

Oh I see. But if each node is connected via cable then the drop in speed may not happen?

I have been using without ethernet backhaul and frankly there
Has been zero difference for my activities such as

4k video streaming
Online movie watching
YouTube 4k
Check emails, browse web etc etc

I don't feel any slower or faster compared to on the ethernet backhaul...

Can I check with TS if you are using ONT or ONR?

Deco M5 Review

Just finished writing a review after running the Deco in my house for over 3 weeks. Plug and play, no issues.

This is the fourth mesh system I tested and it has proven yet again that mesh system like TP-Link Deco really works for most household. It allows you to log on to a single network name throughout the entire apartment, unlike the router+repeater setup. I am also getting pretty good speeds in general and my family members have not complained about connection problems.

I basically set up and let it run, zero fuss, no need to constantly change connection to other more powerful network ID (I used to have 3 network IDs to toggle around depending on where I am).

I just did a test over wireless backhaul (connected one of the nodes to my desktop LAN port) and this is the result (I'm on 1Gbps StarHub):

I recommend TP-Link Deco M5 not because it's the best, but because it offers extraordinary value at S$339 from Hachi.tech website, usual S$459.

Here is my lengthy review. Thanks for reading!

Node 2 speed test 250mbps
Node 3 speed test 190Mbpbs

This is without the ethernet backhaul via my ipad.
With I'm getting around 480Mbps, note that I'm on StarHub Fiber 500mbps

I've got it from MyRepublic bundle a month ago and I noticed that the speed will get cut half if my iPhone or iPad connected to the 2nd router. e.g. the first router always on 350-400Mbps and 2nd router can always between 150-200Mbps. Didn't setup the 3rd one.

Do you guys experience the same?

Test results are based on SpeedTest app on my iPhone 7 Plus.

I'm using it for months. No issue in slow speed. My average is 200Mbps.

Are u using pure wireless connectivity?
Meaning no Ethernet connection for the other 2 routers?
Did u use in the room with closed door environment ?
Thanks

Yes pure wireless. Yes closed door for my master bedroom. The only place I get 40Mbps is in my toilet, which is the furthest part of my house to any of my nodes.

seems like this does happen when u are connected to the 2.4ghz band..
Sometimes my devices are dropped from the 5ghz to the 2.4ghz band for no reason and resulted in super slow speeds.

With 5Ghz i can get around 200mbps up and down, 2.4ghz is around 20-50mbps. Im using 2 nodes with Ethernet backhaul and one on wireless

Maybe your devices might have detected a low or unstable of the connection, thus resulting in it changing to 2.4ghz for stability

Anyone have issues connecting a fresh install of the deco app to the existing deco mesh?

I re-installed my app on a new phone but the app needed me to restart the whole process of finding the deco (which I tried but cannot be done because the deco is not in the 'find me mode' i.e blue led).

Strangely, I am connected to the wifi from the deco and the app cannot seem to detect that this is so.
