My 40" Samsung LCD just decided to rest today. Use the remote control to turn on but it won't. Changed the batteries on the remote but no use. Then I noticed that there's no red light on the tv itself. Wat could be wrong?

Power failure somewhere in ur tv or the plug ;)

My 52" philips TV went died out of sudden. Just slightly over 3 years with very light usage.

Seems like mr ho is a gem! Thanks for sharing the contact! Now my TV seems to have some hope!

Hi bros...is worth it to repair smart tv with broken screen? A friend of mine just bought a 48 inch Samsung and his cat knocked it down the minute he unboxed it and put it on his tv rack. He wants to give it away for free but I have to find my own lobang to repair because warranty doesn't cover the way he broke the tv.

The cat is fine lol...I have a cat too but I've trained mine to stay on the floor. So you guys think it's worth repairing? How much do you think it would cost?

My TV has got sound but no picture.
Instead of throwing away, no harm open up and see see right?

Searched youtube for help. Blown capacitors are main culprit. Checked mine, all capacitors seems ok. There were some cases of logic board issue. So no harm change the board and try right? So called Samsung. Their answer is that they don't sell internal parts! Got to send their technician down $230, excluding whatever parts required..

Any lobang? I'm looking for logic board for PS51D450.

Thanks!

Unlikely a cheap repair. Keep the rest for spare part if you decided to buy same model.

My 3 years old Philips 40 inch LED TV has broken down this morning. Lost of power, no red standby light, basically dead.

Called Philips hotline, the operator mentioned that the visit of repairman will cost $120 excluding GST and spare parts. I checked with Philips of the availability of the power supply spare part. It was no longer available and I was advised not to proceed with the repairman appointment (which is available only on weekday working hours).

Then I googled and found this thread. Called Mr Ho and he came down within 1 hour (today is Saturday), opened up my TV, identified the burnt component (rectifier) and replaced with a new one. Now my TV is fixed and I am a happy man again. :)

The cost of repair is $90 nett. Mr Ho has mentioned that if there is a need to replace with expensive spare parts, I can choose not to proceed and pay him $20 for the travel and service. He is a nice uncle and really experienced with TV repairs.

Highly recommended!

His contact as below:
His name : Mr. Ho
Number : 6252 4555

My tv is finally repaired! It shorted and couldn't turn on again since national day. 52" led philips TV. Called mr Ho today and he came down to check.

My tv is mounted to a swivel mount which is quite troublesome to remove but he was patiently trying to see how to remove it thus spending more time than expected.

He changed a chip and charged us only $90. He said some will advise to change the whole board which will cost a lot more.

Wanted to give him $100 because he helped us save the money of buying a new tv or the expenses to get philips to repair but he declined. Honest person.

Just wanted to thank for sharing Mr. Ho's number and your experience with him as my TV died yesterday with a small explosion sound after watching for 30 mins and I have called Mr. Ho for his help and he came down and repaired it within 30 minutes and cost me only 90 dollars... Highly recommended to everyone who is experiencing TV sudden death as it is likely to be IC chip blown off on the power board...

My UA465000QM just died on me, no power no standby light, gave Mr Ho a call at 10:50PM (I feel bad since it's late at night already) but a warm voice still greeted me and politely ask me what is wrong with my tv and promptly tell me that he can fix it, gave me a quote of $90 flat no more no less.

Such an interesting uncle.

He will be coming over tomorrow at 2-3pm to fix my tv. Will update right after.

My LG 42LE5500 died after 3.5 years. Very sayang to throw so call Mr Ho. Pleasant fellow. Charged me $20 for the check. Thought it was the motherboard, brought a new one from LG but in the end failed to rectify the issue. He didnt charge me for the board though. Mentioned that he had a used MB somewhere … so i gave him the tv loh ..:o Haizz it was my bad luck that the tv spoilt … no need to share bad luck with others la … maybe he can fix it and sell it to recover his cost loh

My 3-year old 40 inch Toshiba LCD had image and sound issues, turns black after switching on for awhile. Gave Mr Ho a try, he fixed it within 20 minutes. $90, no more no less. For those of you who don't want to change a new TV yet, you should really try him.

My LG tv just went dead on me. It is still under warranty. The earliest date the tech can come is next tues. Can i send it to the service centre myself to reduce waiting time?

Just wait, the tech can get it serviced on the spot... don't need to carry it around...
