Hi,

I have a lg tv 42lw5700, unable to turn on however i can see the red standby light on. When i click the on button i can hear the click/ crack sound. Anyone know of a place where i can fix such a problem ? My tv is out of warranty though..
I have the same TV and the same problem. Mainboard faulty.
Mainboard cost $180 + GST, LG service $170.
LG will not sell you the mainboard directly.
So do you think it's worth to repair.

Many forumer complained about this issue with this model. Seems to be a defect that will appear after 3 yrs of use.

Total repair cost still less than 50% of a new TV. If nothing major, repair seems viable. Unless u want to take the chance to change to a UHD TV

Hi! My Samsung 40" led tv (about 6-7yrs old, I guess) would turn on but it will auto turn off by itself.

And it does this repeatedly for like forever - on for 1 sec, off for 1 sec and so on (until I turn off the main switch).

Any idea what is wrong with it?

Can check if it is due to faulty backlight.

When it "turns off" look closely at the black screen and try to see there are in fact images on it (might need to look carefully becos it might be hard to see). Hear if there is uninterrupted sound throughout the "on-off" cycle.

The TV might not be turning on-off repeatedly, but it could be because the backlight is flickering, giving the illusion that it is turning on and off.

My Samsung 46ES7500 is giving me problems. Whenever a light colored image is displayed (especially green or blue), there are these vertical lines running down the entire height of the left half of the screen. The lines vary in thickness and do not appear to move when the image shifts.

The TV is now out of warranty and I am trying to figure out if a repair is possible. Does anyone know?

Yi Leng seems like a good choice for TV repair. Found them via google and I think their rates quite reasonable to use.

HN salesman: Nowadays all Tv will not last long. May be 4 yrs.

sigh... mine just checked by Samsung guy... Panel problem and need replace the whole panel... need wait 1 week so assuming it be 7 working day... :s22::(

Nowadays all same same la. Just keep changing Tv.

lucky got spare one to use now so wait for them to order the panel... hopefully the spare one not broke down too or I need to get new ones as spare one no more warranty and expensive to repair...cheaper and better to get new ones with warranty...

TV came back again. This time so far so good. Total downtime 1 month as samsung need to indent spares

mine was quote 1 week...hopefully it true and no delay or they ordered wrong parts or faulty parts that be more delays :s22::(

I just repaired my TV. Replaced panel. So i think I am qualified to answer.

Henry Ng is right. The panel is almost the price to the TV. Plus Labour and delivery, total cost u can buy a new TV already. The figures were written clearly on my invoice. (mine is under warranty, so I din pay anything)

For reference, mine is a 2 year old 46" fhd led
Panel $750
Delivery $120
Labour $120
Everything plus GST close to $1K. This is about what I paid last time when I first bought the tv

Unlikely u can source the spares urself cos the manufacturers controls the stock.

Repairs Will be slow as the stock need to be indented. My downtime was 1 month

I saw on hardware store that they sell some nylon band to secure the TV. So in case the TV drop down from the console, the band will prevent the TV from dropping further . Alternately, u can mount on the wall. Safety is more important

so expensive  lucky mine still got warranty :s12:

after warranty... need to get a new one (if broke down again) as it better and with 3 yrs warranty...safer and peace of mind :s12:

just hope the spare ones can last till the panel came... :s12: and hopefully it a working and non faulty or correct panel :s12:

it a rare problem according to the Samsung guy :s22: quality of Samsung TV like that...at most slightly 1 year plus :(

Samsung just called... got part already... So fast :s12: Hopefully it not refurbished ones :(

*updated* came and change to another panel (refurbished ones since the date was older than current ones :()...

didnt work at all lol... he suspected it another problem... took the tv back for further check lol...

Does LG even have the mainboard spare part?

When my 55LW6500 died due to the same reason, they said Korea no longer manufacturing the mainboard - LW5700 may be the same case since both models were released together IIRC.

My Samsung tv (about 2 years old) will turn off by itself after switching on for a few minutes. This happens no matter when it's connected to starhub or my bluray player. Anyone knows what's wrong?

Hello all,
I bought an LG LE5500 in 2010, warranty has long ended and it died on me yesterday night.
Turned on tv but no image or sound.
Does anyone have any experience in repairing it or should I go for a new TV ?

Thanks in advance!
