Was at COMEX yesterday, bought an Olympus EM-5 Mark ii from Courts. Was only informed that there was no stock for the black one AFTER I've paid. :s11: The salesperson gave me 2 options which are the following:
1) Go back to suntec the next day to collect
2) Wait 7+ days to collect at the nearest Courts.
I asked for delivery but the boss there said $30

Any advices?

If I were you, just demand refund

Very simple to handle this.

First, there is zero ground for negotiation. Make the payment and pass the goods, since there is no agreement on the date and delivery of good.

Second, ask for full refund, citing u need it immediately now and u are traveling tonight. U buy because u need it now.

Third, call the credit card company to void the transaction citing fraud.

Fourth, call the police on the spot citing a commercial fraud and hence a police report can be made for future reference in case you need further follow up with Case Trust. This will alone make the retailer alert up and willing to do something.

Fifth, still make the Case Trust complain as a follow up to ensure they are being followed up by Case Trust.

If paid by CC can cancel right ?

If paid by cash /nets then no recourse
Such sales usually temp staff. TS no experience. TS should have see the product first and ask the sales to confirm there is stock and tell sales he want it on the spot, before paying. I always did that.

this kind of show, really up to yourself to check what you're entitled to or if they have stock and everything correct.

When i asked the sales person where to get the creative bluetooth free headphones that comes with my purchase, they tell me no stock already which is kind of weird.

So went to search for the booth myself and guess what, they have plenty of stock and redeemed my headphones.

If Ts paid by CC.. can faster call the bank cancel?
TS can say he want the stock immediately or else he do not want and ask them to void it. Only the seller can void the transaction. I have requested to void transaction many time.

Yes, it's true.
I bought a mixer sink faucet from Ikea. When I reached home and unpack it, I found a scratch on the chrome plating of the product. So I brought it back to Ikea customer service. The staff received the item & reversed the charges back to my Visa credit card account. No hassle at all, no need to speak with their manager also.

And your contribution?

You see, I do not negotiate with unethical business practice. Hence my first point.

My second point is simple, I give a valid reason for a full refund, or a valid reason for them to provide the goods from other stores within the day.

I can skip the credit card fraud part. But the fourth and fifth points will put their manager on alert to do something, a threat to their reputation and branding. FYI, a police record would be a valid documentation as evidence. Just like ur police report that you lost your ID card and it can be used as a valid document to temporary replace your ID card.

Any reasonable company would want to save the trouble of investigations by Case Trust by doing something. Unreasonable companies will not bother and deserved to be investigated. Reasonable companies like SingTel, in early 2012, was investigated by the former IDA after I made a formal feedback on the poor internet performance to IDA. This was after SingTel decided to put the blame on everything and everyone else except themselves. The end result was a faulty basestation in the affected area.

If say you need it immediately they will tell you to collect it at their XXX outlet or they will do full refund for sure. Actually in Singapore most of the time do not need to do so much thing.

Moral of the thread : Don't buy at IT Shows, Comex etc anything above $30
But sign up telco plans is alright, but must keep safe all contract documents (including their promotion brochures with the discount quantum clearly showed). For possible future dispute resolution purposes..

Actually it ok to buy at such major fair but buyer must know the product and price quite well. Always ask whether shock is available and get seller to confirm. Many time bargain and get quite good deal.

Actually suck thumb one la. It is the mentality of the merchants. Now merchants are simply lazy.

1. Don't bother to check stocks
2. Don't bother to replenish stocks that are sold

Seriously I don't know why they are there if their popular models are out of stocks. Waiting for durian to drop? Seriously using the same old method of selling products.

Taobao and Amazon kill them left, right, center. In the end, kpkb to ministers saying difficult to compete etc...

Then in this event where they cock it up, still don't want to offer some compensation. Really deserve to be slapped.

They can provide excellent customer service by:

1. Informing customer they have no stock (likely customer tulan)
2. Replenish stock (confirm solid and make more $ for company but no one care)
3. Give some freebies in the event of cock up to delight customers

In the end, seller didn't adopt any of these 3 and seriously make a lot of ppl pissed off!
