anyone tried from uob absolute --> grab pay master card --> AXS App to pay insurance bill?
you are 1 year too late. Grab/GPMC can't be used for AXS now.
No, they're different credit cards with different T&Cs. American Express doesn't award its 1.5% rebates for GrabPay top ups, but the UOB Absolute AMEX does (1.7%).
Next time maybe try not commenting on something you have no idea about?

yes as they have been very upfront on that front about Grab Top-ups in their various promotional medias.
I think they know that the max you can spend on Grab is 30k a year, so $450 is the max they lose. It ain't no big deal for them.

I stand corrected, then. So the difference is 0.2% in favor of UOB.
Bingo. I've been using Amex True Cashback for my GrabPay top ups until the UOB Absolute came out; will be using this card for GrabPay top ups henceforth.

I agree that @BBCWatcher is quite an influential poster in this forum and he should fact check his statements more thoroughly. However, I thought the "I stand corrected" was an apology. Anyway, 大人有大量. Let it go.

Also, if you sign up for a credit card only based on what someone posts on a forum, you're not doing your own due diligence.

He did correct himself in a subsequent post. Sometimes we have too much info overload on our head so it's only human. We're here to gather knowledge and knowledge sharing.

but I agree very much with cassowary, end of the day when you sign up you do your own readings and research to determine if the card benefits are beneficial to you. Forums are for discussion and could have human errors, but at times ppl here are more contributory on knowledgeable than the CSOs giving incorrect advise (e.g. UOB One, HSBC EGA Account). I for one never sign up cards/programs without ownself reading up the T&C of the card itself. Just be wary of the tnc and you're on your way.

i dunnoe about influential poster can anyhow post.
i only know there are experts in each sub forum. They are the real experts that own the cards/products and experience themselves. u ask them questions, they able to tell u the exact details..... And these experts when dunnoe, they won't go around anyhow smoke people.
When i come to this sub forum, i read up all the posts.....only 3 person (not bbcwatcher) came in my mind that are the real experts here.

Even i know about amex true cashback 1.5% on grab topup, but i didn't type out cause i don't own the card.
i don't expect anything or finding fault from bbcwatcher, my point here is if dunnoe, just don't type..... this is what i trying to say. And tesarise already polite, advise him politely.

apologized anot, my f9 english definition as the followings ;)

Sorry if I sounded impolite in my initial reply but this is not the first time I see bbcwatcher engaging in such bad faith behavior: "explaining" something that they have no idea about or is factually wrong while sounding like a subject matter expert , then just walking away with an "oops hehe my bad" after being called out.

I just don't want people that didn't read the subsequent posts to be mislead.

Hi, I have not applied for the UOB Absolute CashBack Card, but i am interested to. But before i apply, i would like to seek advice if my use case makes sense.

I am a UOB ONE credit card user - this is my main card.
I typically hit the $500/mth quota for 3 consecutive months following my billing cycle, but not the $1000/mth quota. So meaning my spending is something like $600, then $700 then $550, after which i get $50 because i met the $500/mth quota for 3 consecutive months. So the amounts, $100, $200, $50 above the $500/mth quota does not get any rebates. UOB one is still my preferred card due to the 3.33% rebates and potentially 5% rebates if i am able to maintain $2k/mth for 3 mth.

To overcome this, i had resorted to only spending $500 eligible spend on UOB ONE Card. Any amounts above that i would use my bank account to top up GrapPay Master card and spend on that instead. As a result, my spending now becomes $500 then $500 then $500, and my GrabPay Master card would tank the excess above $500 and get me my GrabPoints.

In comes UOB Absolute Cash Back Card.
I intend to use this card to top-up my GrabPay wallet to get 1.7% cashback and subsequently spend that $ to make my purchases and earn my GrabPay points. I will use GrabPay for all merchants that accept pre-loaded mastercard. This is my 2nd line of defence so to speak.

So far, will this strategy work? If yes, then i will apply.

Disclaimer: I understand that each credit card has a minimum spending that needs to hit in order to qualify for fee waiver. For my UOB ONE card, i have no issues getting waiver having spend min $500/mth. I am sure the UOB Absolute will have a minimum as well, which i think would be relatively easy to hit with GrabWallet top-ups and all the other transactions that are not considered as eligible spend by traditional credit cards (e.g. those with the MCC code).

Bus/MRT transport cost
I currently use the EZ-Link card which is linked to the EZ-Link app. As i spend, i get points which i use to redeem stuff in the Ez-Link app. I know this is not ideal but UOB One Card does not count bus/mrt spend as eligible spending and GrabPay Master Card does not give GrabPoints for bus/MRT spending as well. So i need advice on whether the UOB Absolute Card can help here?

I intend to link the UOB Absolute Card to Transitlink Simply-Go and use it as a bus/MRT card. The UOB Abolute can be used as a bus/MRT card right? So if my transport cost is $100/mth, then i should be able to get $1.70 cashback?

Thank you.

Uob absolute is Amex, so cannot be used for Simplygo, which allow visa/masters only.

Simplygo actually count to uob one for rebate and grabpay mastercard for grab points.

Who says UOB one does not count bus/mrt as eligible spending?
Hi

OMG, you are right. I just checked the T&C again (https://www.uob.com.sg/assets/pdfs/one_card_full_tnc.pdf) and called UOB. All this while i thought it is not counted when it actually is. I feel so silly =(

The officer clarified that while it is counted as eligible spend to meeting the monthly quota, i cannot use the card to top-up my EZ-Link card as that would be counted exclusions in section 5.1h of the t&c.

While i was talking to the officer i found out that the minimum spend needed for fee waiver for the UOB ONE card and the Absolute card is $6000/year but this is subjected to changes and if one does not meet the target, they will review, case by case basis.

Simplygo actually count to uob one for rebate and grabpay mastercard for grab points.

Thank you.

fr33d0m pointed out that i can use my UOB ONE card to replace my EZ-Link card as bus/mrt spend is counted as eligible spending. In this case, it will be better to be to charge that to my UOB one card and earn the 3.33% rebate.

Yours is this Mon or last Mon? I applied using MyInfo since last Fri also no sound till now. You can try complain to MAS. This has nothing to do with POFMA though.

3.33% only if you hit 500 exactly. Spend more than that will bring down the effective%. Personally i find UOBONE a bit troublesome because of this.

Hi

Yes you are right. It is a very troublesome card and i had alot of near misses in terms to hitting quota because the T&Cs keep changing. My saving grace is to call UOB to find out if such n such a spend is eligible and how much more i need to hit the quota.

Problem, i find with UOB ONE card is that if a person spends consecutively 3 months following credit card cycle... $500, $500, $500 vs $900, $800, $900, both scenario will get $50 on the 4th month as rebate; since the 2nd scenario, the person havent hit the next tier of $1k/mth for 3mths. This card is only good for those able to hit consistent spending.

So what people end up doing is finding other means to try to get some perks on that extra spending above the min quota. Like, if one spends 900, $800, $900, it might be better to top-up $100, $200, $100 to make it $1k/mth for 3 mth. The simplest way is to buy NTUC vouchers.

But then you end up with alot of vouchers which if you don't sell, you need to use and if you use, mean the next few months, your credit card spending on groceries will drop, so instead of hitting the $1k/mth quota, you end up hitting the $500/mth quota.

So for a period, i was doing this. $500, $500, $500 quota and then $1k, $1k, $1k, n the cycle repeats. Very unsustainable due to the mental strain of always trying to be mindful of quota and maximising rebates.
