I am using a UOB debit card for the $500 spend for my UOB One account.
I was told that any amount spent on the UOB card will contribute to the $500 spend.
Recently I discovered to my horror that NETS, AXS and online transfer do not count towards the spend. Only Paywave does. So when I make my payment, I have been using Paywave. However, although the amount I have spent has exceeded $500, the $500 spending bar still does not reflect all my spending. When I checked the terms and conditions, I read that ‘nondurable goods’ which is commonly defined as ‘clothes, food, shoes etc’ do not count.
I would like to know if there’s a way to find out exactly what are the expenses that count towards the $500 spend?
Transaction history does not reflect the ones that are taken into consideration. It reflects all transactions so I have no idea which are the ones that count towards the spending.
I have called their hotline. After a lengthy talk, the guy said he was unable to help me and needed the card department to speak to me. I waited while I was put on hold and was hung up!
I went down to their branch twice.
The first time, the bank staff told me he was only in charge of selling products so he’s unable to help me.
The second time, the bank staff standing outside the branch couldn’t answer my queries so she referred me to the front counter. But the front counter was also unable to help me so she said a card specialist would call me. When the so-called card specialist called me, she told me what I already know about my own account ie. the interest I received last month! When I said I wanted to know why my spending do not count, she said she would get a card specialist to call me (again!).
I am appalled that none of the UOB staff knows exactly how their savings account works. Looks like I am going to miss out on next month’s interest due to this stupid $500 spend despite me spending and spending trying to chalk up the spend.
