The queue is damn long and there’s really quite a lot of elderly waiting for their turns.

almost all the local banks + cimb currently long waiting time for opening accounts.. not just UOB ba

UOB is a special kind of stupid because they require all customers looking to close bank accounts to be physically present at the branch. No paper form or phone/online banking for it.

Most other banks can close accounts via phone banking.

hmm just empty your acc to 0 and eventually they will close it automatically ?
at least they not like citibank where the fall below fee becomes a negative value in your acc i think

I went to a physical branch wanting to close account. After waiting for 2 hours (took number and went for lunch), the number didn't move much. Still quite far. In the end, I went to the front counter to ask. They helped me filled up a form, I signed and the account was closed the next day I think. If I know this could be done, I wouldn't want to wait.

Uob will deduct even your balance is 0. Will go minus.

Does the earmarked amount continue to earn the usual UOB One account Bonus interest, on top of the $680 cash credit?

Cos the TnC states: [“Earmarked” means that the amount deposited will not be reflected in Account statements and cannot be withdrawn.]

Went to two different branches to ask the same question. One said yes, the other no. Confused.

Play safe, so not taking part in the promotion in order to confirm the bonus interest for ONE account. Unless someone has taken part and assures that earmarked amount still contributing to ONE account ADB.

I took part/ registered in the promo but not sure if it's confirmed (supposed to receive email/ SMS confirmation but don't have yet). How to know confirmed accepted for the promo liao? Dec will be 1st month with the UOB One higher interest, to be deposited next mth in Jan 2023.

Is it once u fill up the promotion form, the funds are immediately blocked/reserved? Or does the earmarking take a few days to be effected?

So far no earmark. No notification says successfully enrolled since early dec. So u take yr risk. Given uob lousy cs now.

You guys need to learn to read TNCs properly in case of just signing up blindly next time. Email already write to you all big big:

"Please note that this acknowledgement is not a confirmation of your successful participation or eligibility as we are currently in the process of verifying your entry. If you are an eligible participant, you will be notified by 31 January 2023 (or such other date as UOB may determine in its sole discretion)."

Honestly am extremely regretting applying for UOB ONE account.

28 Nov - Applied for UOB ONE account online
12 Dec - Applied for UOB ONE Credit Card
14 Dec - still no news, cannot get through UOB phone support. Got in touch with UOB Chat, chat cannot help, tell me they'll call me back in 7 days
21 Dec - CSO called saying the account is set up but I cannot use yet as no debit card to activate, told me to head down to the bank to activate internet banking
22 Dec - Queued for 1.5hrs at the bank and the CSO told me cannot help me I must wait for the letter for my card
27 Dec - finally got my debit card but still no news of the UOB ONE credit card. Can't get through hotline, online chat is down.

Knn this whole experience feel like vomiting blood

Now open upb account is like queueing for omega swatch .. limited number of account they can open in a day. Go late .. cannot open

UOB system is dinosaur yet they advertise their Uob one card on local tv and mentioned immediate approval LOL

I think depend on individual. UOB Absolute was indeed immediate approval but for my case I already hold a UOB One card just never use it for years. Maybe past records play a part in the approval process

Well let's hope UOB didn't create a promotion and promoted it on their UOB one Account which will make their customers a lot worst off if they take part in the promotion.
