this month also facing the 'problem' of not spending enough to meet the $500...

Can pay insurance. It counts towards the $500 spending. Just not the card benefits.

yea but not many insurance willing to accept credit card mode.
i'm on singlife, so premium payment via credit card, it will be done once a year instead of monthly billing.
car insurance, also insist ocbc only..

a trick to share. if you fall short of the $500, can actually call to appeal.
they will based on previous months spent, of course , subject to approval.

thanks... best to avoid having to appeal as it's based on their good will. also, last time when I appealed they said it's only like allowed "once a year"

a silly thought came up to me.

is there any investment scheme that we can use with credit card?
should consider expenses/shopping
or maybe buy gold bar in shopee. monthly buy 1-2g, end of the year, will have 12-24g.

Can pay your Telco in advance. Or go to SP customer service centre and pay your SP bills in advance. Or top up ntuc gift card.

But this is shifting the expenses forward. Next mth you will be short of more. Unless you need to spend more because of Chinese New Year.

yea, paying SP bills in advance is a good idea.

i found a small trick, not sure if it really works well.
i tried a top up in grab wallet using the credit card and looking at the transaction, it fall under the spent of $500.

with this top up, i can use it to pay hawkers, coffeeshop etc.
most of the time, they dont accept credit card hence this top up might works really well.
but the top up fund will be deem as non transferable balance.
which can only be used for all grab services except transfers

side track, was told each credit transaction, merchant got to pay like 2-3 % fee..

Trying too hard to spend just to meet $500 spend is pretty stressful, even though the rewards are high ....

I think if you have 2xUOB accounts & cards, and if you can comfortably satisfy 1x account & card, I think the 2nd one you can try not so hard to satisfy every month ....

Or if you need to optimise, the 2nd account/card can aim to satisfy for 3 months, stop for 3 months, then continue again, and the cycle goes on ....

My personal opinion ......

Have not been there for more than a year. If no change the following applies.

Now they ask you to pay at the SP kiosk (counted as eligible) located there. They don't bother who pay so no need IC. Best to get copy of the bill (digital) so that you can verify that it is correct account, address and amount before you pay.

Kiosk can also pay in advance. Think there is limit like upto 2 times the outstanding balance.

Btw, if there is Q waiting outside to get Q number, just tell the staff issuing Q number that you are making payment. The Q number is for non-payment related stuff.

free money.
got to let your money work for you.
how can it be considered as letting money to work hard, when you need to struggle to spend $500 on unnecessary spend, just to get $500 every month? (UOB One Account 4% for $150k is about $500 each month).

if you cut your spending to $500 to fulfill 1x UOB One Account, even just close eyes and put the other $150k in 2x Mari Bank accounts, you will still be better off with more money compared to spending $1000 for 2x UOB One accounts
