I want to ask, let's say I have $50k and have Singtel, M1 & SP bills to pay. Would this be a good account for savings?

I don't have CC and I don't intend to have one because of my lifestyle. With above how much interest I expect to earn?

Thanks ppl

You need to spend min $500 on uob one cc or uob direct debit card to get any bonus interest on this account. Of course spending on uob cc is better as you can get higher rebate. But then you don't intend to have cc because of lifestyle (which I not sure what it means), so this account may not be suitable for you.

Basically I buy groceries, top ezlink card, food, transport. These are the things I spend money on as such I don't think I need a CC for that. Also I don't know the usefulness of CC except that it could lead you to debts.

Right now I'm using debit card from DBS for all my needs. Maybe yeah this account may not be suitable for me. Guess other accounts like BOC are also out of question lol.

If you dont have 500 to spend on your cc, then i think its better to just go for ocbc. Salary credit plus 3 unique bill payment will still give u 1.7% pa?

IMO, actually for 50k in account, and if salary and 3 bill payments, better to go BOC Smartsaver. can get 2%p.a.
if use their Debit Card ( or cc ) to $500, will get extra 1.55%, so max is 3.55%.

BOC Family cc also give 7% rebate on dining, 5% on supermarket, cashback on ez load........

2k spending bracket is good. Rebate is at 5%.

With family spending at NTUC & other expenses, it is v easy to hit 2k per month.

Bundled with UOB 1 account & OCBC 360, & other CC rebates, I am getting close to $350 per month from the banks.

Bluntly sad, you're scared to manage the finances.
If one can manage the finances, bills on time, properly.

You'd reap the benefits rather than the seeds of the erroneous sowing.

Hi, is there any fast one-time GIRO arrangement I can make?

M1 deducted 2 months of subscription from me last month, which they compensated in a way by not deducting this month. But that would mean I have less 1 GIRO arrangement with UOB One!

that is the reason why i used uob cc bill as giro.

i can control the amount i spend on each card, which is minimum $11 per bill cycle (not sure if it is at least $10)

all depends on how much your bills add up. uob1 require min spend 500 consistently. scb singpost require 600.

assuming that your telco bills add up to 600 per bill cycle, and u pay them online, and using 50k in esaver at 1.55% interest, u can do the calculation below,

1. uob one =
a) cc rebate 0.033*500 +
b) extra interest [(2.43-1.55)/100]*(30/365)*50k
returns = 52.7

if your telco bills plus other non-paywave expenses add up consistently to 500. this is your best option.

2. singpost =
a) cc rebate 0.070*600
returns = 42

if your telco bills plus online spending (some cards exclude online grocery, online taxi booking and some online flight booking), add to 600 but is not a consistent amount. this is your next best option

3. dbs debit card (provided there is paywave at telco branches)
a) rebate 0.050*600
b) minus transport and time
returns = 30

for me, i used uob1 to hit 500 per month, and over that 500, i used

- dbs debit card for paywave, 5% rebate
- optimum for non-paywave dining, 4.5-5% rebate
- singpost for telco, 7% rebate

- scb visa infinite for uber, for miles
- dbs altitude visa for grab, for miles
- anz travel for other local spend, for miles

- uob visa signature for overseas spend, for miles

May i tap your expertise?

Currently, I am using auto Giro to pay my UOB One CC out of my UOB One Account. I am thinking of changing that and using the AXS e-payment to pay for the UOB CC.

May I ask :

- If i leave the GIRO arrangement with UOB and do not terminate this (in case need to use in future so no need to apply again), will UOB process the GIRO deduction (even if I have paid via AXS already)? Or because CC bill is settled, will not trigger GIRO.

Thanks so much for your kind help!

If CC bill settled at least say 5 working days before, GIRO will not be triggered. Btw I assume you are able to meet the 3 giro payment/ salary crediting requirement for the bonus interest without the cc bill?

Yes, the 3 GIRO payments are taken care of!

Trazora, i have been lurking in this forum to learn a trick or two and i really must thank you for all your kind contribution to the community here! Always prompt and very helpful! I went to BOC branch today and i found their staff so clueless and passive, and i cannot help but think that the shifus here are so much more helpful!
