Has anyone emptied out their UOB One account before? If the account became zero, and some months later you inject funds into the account for a new promo, will you be charged any fall below fees? UOB One fall below fee of $5 if the Avg monthly balance is below $1000. Anyone got charged this fall below fees before?

Yes, I had been charged before on 2 joint accounts and thereafter maintained $1k.

It will charge and it is not simple to waive it.

Hi everyone. I signed up for the $688 promo with fresh funds to find a brand new UOB ONE account. I also signed up at the promo webpage before depositing $150k to my uob One account. I belief I took the right steps to qualify for the $688 promo "cash credit". All this was done in the first week of January. However, since then I have not heard from UOB regarding my participation in this $688 promo. Is this normal? I didn't even get an acknowledgement email.

My second question is, what exactly is the $688 "cash credit"? Is it straight up cash deposited into my account or something else?

Also, when will this cash credit be paid out? At the end of the 5 months?

I found out about when the cash credit will be paid out and yes, it's cold hard cash. All in the TnC.

So now I'm just wondering why no acknowledgement that I am participating in the promotion?

Based on my last round experience, roughly in mid of Feb, they will calculate your monthly average of Jan and see if it is >150k more than Dec, as you submitted in the form. If yes, they will earmark the $150k and deposit $688 in account before end of Feb.

used to have email ack "Thank you for your participation ........etc etc" a few days after registration. Is your promotion registration email the same as the one maintained with the bank?

Does anyone here use their UOB One debit card for paying bus/mrt fares via SimplyGo?

I created a new UOB One account about 3 weeks ago, and received the debit card 1 week after that.

I have been using the card for bus/mrt fares since then; the posted amount so far is less than $5, with another $2 pending from yesterday's trip. But when I check the UOB account transactions via the app, I don't see the posted amount being deducted.

I see two pending $0.10 deductions from the debit card:
1. SPL-REGISTRATION SINGAPORE SGP (on the day I linked the card to SimplyGo)
2. BUS/MRT SINGAPORE SGP (yesterday)

There was previously another pending $0.10 deduction from the 1st few trips which has since disappeared.

What's also odd is the UOB internet banking website doesn't show the pending transactions for the debit card.

I also used my DBS debit card for transportation fares around the same period, and the fares were debited a few days after the trip.

Just wondering if this kind of transaction behavior seen with UOB is normal for cards that are newly linked to SimplyGo, or if it's some issue with UOB One account.

Should be normal, I used Revolut before on transport and I remember its similar as what you described. You probably have to go in SimplyGo to check the price if you want to know immediate.

Where else to park spare cash? Boomer here so would prefer SDIC covered options! Thanks

What you've described is normal for all cards and all banks. It's how it works.

use UOB browser internet banking will show a clearer picture

1. For example you have $100,000 in your UOB account
2. 17 Jan you charged $10 retail spend to your UOB Debit Card. Your Available Balance will be reduced by $10 (earmarked) and your Current Balance will still be $100,000
3. It will take about 2 to 3 days for the $10 to be posted. Hence on 20 Jan ( ~2359 hrs ) you will probably have $10 being posted and deducted from your account and your Available Balance = Current Balance at $99,990. You should see this when you login browser internet banking on 21 Jan

Bro, your logic abit flawed leh. If you want SDIC covered why you put 150k to UOB one? Should only put 100k.

Not a UOB One user or card holder but just to add on
There are some differences between payment network for simplygo eg. VISA vs MASTERCARD

https://www.simplygo.com.sg/faqs/cards-and-charms/simplygo/contactless-bank-cards/
Under fares and billing

For Mastercard contactless bank cards, fare charges will be accumulated for up to 5 days or after a total of $15 is spent on transit fares, whichever is earlier.
For Visa and NETS contactless bank cards, fare charges will be accumulated daily.

DBS debit card
This should be a VISA since you don't see the 0.10 SGD pending.

Looks like you were correct; SimplyGo showed <$5 posted on Jan 18; UOB app shows that same amount debited on Jan 20. Transaction in the app was only updated on Jan 21.

Between Jan 18 and Jan 20, I didn't see that deduction marked as "pending" in UOB app. Maybe I'm just too used to looking at VISA credit card statements (without bus/mrt fares debits) where "pending" will appear immediately once a purchase is made.
