GG UOBONE
GG GPMC

It was good while it lasted...

for me I don't really care about the 5% extra rebate for topping up UOB X Grab... it's the prudential insurance monthly premium paid via UOB One card that really stings (or stinks), since it will no longer count as card spent for card rebate (3.33% for $500).

but there's no other card out there that accept insurance payment and can give rebate at the same time.

as for GPMC, there's no reason to top up anymore. or to use the card.

UOB Bankers sold the Prudential Insurance as something that can fulfil the UOB One Credit Card spending. Of course, people would buy it. "Instead of spending it, you can save it" and still earn cashback.

So UOB has to retract this, else people will rise up against them.

For prudential, think can use maybank platinum visa for the quaterly rebate. Or uob delight for recurring payment to earn SMART$. Cap and min spend applies.

it's quite unethical. and we're paying monthly instead of annually which actually costs slightly more.

i'm thinking of changing to annually from the next anniversary onwards to save a bit of the premium (prudential says can only take effect from anniversary date) and then just spend min. $500 for the One account bonus interest.

How many years is the policy ? And how much is the monthly premium ?

If there is anything in black and white that UOB use the UOB One credit card to entice people to buy, is there grounds to file a report against UOB?

UOB One Card: Wef 16 Mar 2020, selected transactions such as insurance payments, Grab mobile wallet top-ups, wire transfers, payments to Non-Financial Institutions (such as crypto-currencies etc), quasi-cash and more will be excluded from the awarding of cash rebate. For details, visit uob.com.sg/onetncs

This "insurance payments" encompasses all types of insurance from all insurance companies??

Kill me please.

Yes. Spending for jan statement still $550, not affected by the rebate. Feb spending also not affected by the rebate.

Any idea what the next best option?

some people suggest Cardup.

currently there's 5% - 2.25% = 2.75% rebate until 30 June, provided you're at the $2000 spend tier.

else, u get 3.33% - 2.25% = 1.08% rebate until 30 June if you're between $500 and $2000 spend tier.

after 30 June it'll probably go back to 5% - 2.6% = 2.4% and 3.33% - 2.6% = 0.73% respectively.

for me i'm not going to spend $2000 each month (even with insurance premium) so to get 0.73% after June is not really worth the hassle to me. For $500 premium per month, that's $3.65 cash rebate per month...

also god knows when UOB will also exclude Cardup.

Still don't understand how is cardup good? I have monthly premium of $70 fixed per month. Gonna remain using UOB One for min spend. While another one I'm gonna change to annual and pay a few K per year with SCB card for 1.5%

Those planning to use cardup, for first time use and amount at least $1000, try to get referral code which will give you $20 off the transaction fee. The referral fee is given as a code. The 2.25% discounted fee also need to apply a code so can't use together ie fee would be 2.6% then less $20. If your payment is more than $1130, suggest you spilt into 2 payments. Eg if payment is $1500, pay $1000 and apply the referral code. Pay remaining $500 and apply the 2.25% code.

Now that introduction is done on cardup, suggest to go to cardup thread if there are more queries.
