Hi all, anyone plans to stop using this credit card after 1-Dec-25? As most of us are aware, the EIR for UOB One account will be 1.9% pa (from 2.5% pa now).

I am pondering to move the fund out from UOB One account and stop using this card once the card quarter is over.

Please share your strategy, plans and/or thoughts. Appreciated!
Agree that it is the more flexible use card if have fixed spending.

Can dont use uob one account but cannot dont use uob one card... coz if you dont use, they wont give you your cc rebate as a credit. it is only when u got use then the rebate u earned from last quarter gets offset.

for eg if ur cashback is $50 then u got to use $50 in new quarter then uob will credit the $50 to offset. sneaky but thats how it is.

Sneaky. Only bank that does this. Others will show credit balance so you won't forget.

Yeap, stopped using for a while and moved funds to DBS mult instead. Hard to reach min spending, too many tnc and hard to track cashback. Appealed for cashback few times coz just few dollars short due to wrong spend category (eg travel insurance), they made me feel bad and can see they dont value loyalty (been with them long time and use many of their products).

Consider their unit trust though, some no fees and can buy/sell on UOB TMRW app, no need 3rd party platforms or fees. Alternate card can consider UOB Priv miles (free airport lounge few times a year) if u travel lots or Amex true cashback (1.5% credited within same bill, includes med bills and insurance except grab top up, good cust service). Hope this helps!

Same, switching out from Dec and would be moving to Multiplier, best rate for now even by doing little.

Hello, does anyone know whether buying IKEA gift cards at their customer service counter is considered spending? Thank you!

[SIC] LENSKART purchases are not eligible for cashback nor UOB One account bonus interest

Was puzzled why my card spend didn't tally with the tracker and discovered that my purchase with Lenskart on 18 Dec wasn't counted.

Chat Assist with UOB CSO and it was confirmed the merchant code is under exclusion list! So buy specs with Lenskart is not considered retail transaction under One Account tnc.

so ridiculous... this would be my last time patronizing Lenskart.

Need to feedback to Lenskart. They can request their bank to change the MCC code.

By then hor, why UOB exclude 5199 non-durable goods ? It is still goods.

MCC 5199 stands for Nondurable Goods, Not Elsewhere Classified, a Merchant Category Code for businesses selling various non-permanent goods like food products, craft supplies, sponges, gifts, or novelties that don't fit other specific codes, often used by wholesalers or for general merchandise. This code helps payment processors classify transactions, but it's sometimes excluded from credit card rewards programs, as seen with some banks.

yeah I guess I'll drop Lenskart a customer service email... but I wonder if they would bother.

can see from the chat that the bank doesn't care. so, have to feedback to the merchant instead.

anyways, it's just to raise awareness for those UOB card customers. don't use it to pay for Lenskart for now.

No harm trying.

Many years ago, Popular online was using some funny MCC code which caused issues for my company's corporate card (different limit for different group of expenditure). Our Finance department wrote to them to explain the impact and they changed it quite quickly.

Usually merchants when they set up card payment they sometimes don't specify and just leave it to their bank to assign. Or they just anyhow pick one. The staff in charge don't understand the importance of MCC. And if they get a bank staff who don't bother and just throw into "don't fit others", will end up like this.

This is Lenskart physical store transaction right? Or Lenskart online (website)?

This is really strange...wouldn't 5199 be a highly possible code for various purchases then?? Wa then it's quite risky when buying retail goods :(

Out of curiosity, I went to check my lenskart transaction made with a UOB card back in Jan 2025 at plaza sing branch. The MCC code is 8043 - Opticians, Optical Goods and Eyeglasses

Amount was $670.

Luckily for me, MCC code doesn't matter since I used the CP visa card for 10% cashback cap at $50. So effective cashback is ~7.46%
