anyone can successfully help me i will be more than willing to share half the uni$ =)

how much u have from ezlink? I think the best argument u can put forth is that - if the transaction is not qualifying for 10x, I would not use that card already. When the UNI$ was awarded, I rely that is a qualifying transaction before spending more on the card. This is a mis-representation by the bank itself. Therefore, should not be penalise due to that. In fact by doing so, the bank earn on the commission on the transaction and deny the reward is cheating and discrediting the bank reliability. I accept a going forward exclusion but not a retrospective dis allowance.

this is their response from T&C:
UOB
reserves the right to cancel and void any UNI$ awarded in a Cardmember’s statement of
account at any time if it deems that such UNI$ was not earned from qualifying spend of a
Cardmember and the Cardmember shall not be entitled to any compensation or payment
whatsoever.

Technically that clause cant really stand. Cuz unfair tnc and still a mis-representation. By awarding 10x on the transactions, they have effectively represented that it is qualifying. Thus give assurance to user and encourage them to use. They can stop with effect from 24 nov. They can also attempt to disallow for that month when the statement come but it shld not be disallowed after a few months.

Maybe u can call them to complain. And tell them u agreeable to the uni $ not able to claim for the $50 credit. But there are no ground for forfeiture. Will be better if u have a priority account or kniw skmebody who have it. Tell them closing account cuz cant trust them.

Suit you. If need be, I will write a complain letter and go to their branch office. And preferably during peak hours.

You guys are seriously misguided if you think uob is going to give in on this.

I already said in an old post that their terms and conditions does cover them excluding top-ups of Ezylink prepaid cards from 10x of UOB PPV. It would either be under "transport" or "money transfer". They can use either of those to "disallow" 10x on top-ups to Image/FEVO/M1 cards. And they also have the generic statement at the end that they can disallow any online merchants at any time.

It will be very hard to argue against them.

Just be grateful that they stopped awarding 10x earlier rather than later so that you guys stopped topping up your cards earlier rather than later. Just imagine if they let you happily continue topping up for another few months and then clawed back all the UNI$ you would be in an even worse state.

Dont give them ideas. You never know which UOB staff is lurking here and we dont need to to their job. Anyway there is no transport restriction in TnC. The restriction in the TnC is "Travel". Money transfer is also quite debatable. The issue is whether by representing that the transaction is qualifying by awarding 10X at the first place and lured people to spend more subsequently, do they have the legal and moral rights to come back to say sorry, i make a mistake and i clawing back all the bonus. I remember got some insurance case where the judge ruled that it is not right to assume that the consumer would continue with the activity had they known that it is not qualifying.

Just like you buying stuff which say X% would be provided (excluding certain category of items). After buying once, which qualify for the discount, you continue to buy the same item. A few months down the road, the shop collected money from you and at that point say, sorry, this product does not qualify for the discount as indicated in the terms. I will not refund you the excess money you just paid and it will be use to offset against the discount that you enjoyed previously.

the correct method in such situation should be a prospective disallowance and not a retrospective clawback.

I agree that it would be fairer to customers to disallow prospectively rather than claw back. Whichever UOB staff might be lurking in here, please feedback to your management that you are losing a lot of loyalty and goodwill from your customers who have been using UOB PPV card all this while.

Yap, serious lost of trust. btw, wonder anybody know whats that court case i talking about. Think a few years back in Singapore. In essence:

Basically investor keep doing sell and buy back of units in a unit trust. There is a formula error by the insurance company which allow them to earn a huge profits at the expense of other unit holders.

Court rule that the profit is not valid. Insurance company wanted to slap them with a loss for all these transactions as if the correct formula is applied. Court say no. Basically saying that the investor would not have done what he had done had he know that it will result in a loss. investor get back his money without the profit or suffer the loss.

Let this be a warning to those holding Prepaid cards not to abuse banks' credit cards for their top ups. UOB, OCBC already clamped down on this.

Why do you say we are abusing the bank CC? We follow everything to the T. It is not like we are cheating the banks. The banks could have disallow right at the beginning. Likewise, the topup card could have disallowed topup using CC since they are working with the banks as well.

Not talking about the UOB PPV for this since that is already a gone case. But there are other cc which are being used to top up prepaid cards when direct charging can be made to the cc and still entitled to the perks. I am not going to be specific but some of you probably know what I am referring to.

Perhaps we should delete all of these discussions. Other banks may get ideas.
