Thanks. Am looking around for esim options also.
Please don't waste your time trying to get an e-sim in SG on those sketchy online sellers on Shoppee. e-sim is a technology only available in the US now, why would those China sellers have them reliably.

I went to the US then went to the T-mobile store in San Fran and the attendant in the store helped me install in my phone, everything swee swee.

People in the US are so friendly too.

Wonder if someone knows whether travelling to US during this period requires showing proof of Covid19 vaccination? If so, can we simply show the singpass app notarise covid vaccination cert without printing it?

Visiting New York in April for around 7d6n. We are transiting through Toronto so I believe we need an ETA (Cananda) and ESTA (US). For most days in New York, we will be doing some sight seeing in the city followed by a show (MJ, Seinfeld) or event (NBA match). We still have 2 free full days though. We are considering a long day tour to Niagara Falls. Unfortunately, our transit time is too short to visit from Toronto side. I understand that there is a boat that runs on the water but it is not operating in April. Is this still worth the trip? For the other free day we are thinking of taking an Amtrak train to visit Washington or Philadelphia or join a day tour instead. Is this recommended? We are staying all nights at an AirBnB in Hell's Kitchen area. Appreciate any tips!

Not worth going to niagara falls in one day.

Nothing to see in philadelphia.

Worth going to dc esp if early april for sakura cherry blossoms.
They also have lots of museums.
Maybe should stay 1 night in dc if u have 2 free days.

We were skeptical about a day trip to Niagara Falls as well. But there were so many positive reviews. Didn't realise there are Sakuras at DC and I guess this will make it more interesting. Unfortunately, we do not have 2 consecutive days. There is this Amish tour too. Sounds tacky to me. Then there is a Boston day tour to visit the famous schools. Doesn't seem interesting to me too. Thanks for tips!

I think what he mentioned could be 2GB of 5G data for $10. Read that from T-mobile site (https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prepaid-internet).

2GB wasn't enough for me during my 2-week trip, therefore I bought a 30-day 10GB eSIM from Airalo app. US$26.

If you have additional days, you can consider the following:

1. Woodbury premium outlets for outlet mall shopping
2. Explore other suburbs of New York like the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn
3. There are day trips to Niagara falls and Washington DC + Philadelphia. You can check out packages on Klook, Viator or Getyourguide. The day trip tours to Niagara falls will bring you to Niagara falls and other attractions. I say it is worth the trip if your objective is just to see the falls but do take note that the journey from New York is 6 hours! I wouldn't recommend doing the day trip to Philly and DC as one day is too rushed to see anything unless your objective is just to check these places off your bucket list. I don't think you will even have time to check out the museums in DC.

Thanks for the suggestions. Since we will be there for 7 days, we prefer to spend the 2 days out of NY for some variety. To be honest, none of the more popular day trip options appear to be must-dos for us. We are seldom impressed with waterfalls. Do hope that Niagara falls are majestic enough. It's good to hear that the long day trip to Niagara falls include other stops. I think we are okay with the long bus ride. It starts off at 4am and we will probably be sleeping for most of the time. For day trips to Philly and DC, we will probably just go with DC as fellow forumer also recommends.
How about restaurants in NY?
So far, I made reservations at Fraunces Tavern and Grand Central Oyster Bar. Also planned to visit Katz's Delicatessen, Ellen Star Dust and The Original Soup Kitchen. If Blue Box Café reopens, we will try to make a reservation too. We are not into fine dining but are interested in iconic restaurants and cafes.

I can't comment much on your restaurants choices cos I've not tried most of them. Katz's is a good recommendation though and a must try! Ellen's Stardust Diner is kinda touristy imo but the ambience can be quite intimidating with performances and people going around singing on tables. Some people like it. My only advice is to avoid chain restaurants like Applebee's and Olive Garden cos there are a lot of better food options out there. In New York, 2 things I have to eat are pizza (Prince St, Bleecker St, Lombardi's, Joe's) and bagels (Absolute, Ess-a-bagel, Russ & Daughters).

Thanks for the tips, I have seen the same pizza and bagel places being recommended in various websites and actually have Lombardi's on my list. Now I think they will be great choices for breakfasts/lunches or quicker bites. I have added them all to my Google maps now. :)

For 1st time visitor to US ,Is the $Usd 21 for 2 year ESTA a scam or if it is needed,is there a way to get discount?
For FLYING IN to Usa, do you need to use TSA luggage or can use any type of luggage suitcase, even 18 years old suitcase?

1) Yep, you do have to pay $21. Make sure you apply through the official Customs & Border Patrol site at esta.cbp.dhs.gov; any other site is at best going to overcharge you and at worst is a scam.
2) Nah, any kind of luggage is fine. If you use a luggage lock, you might want to buy a TSA-approved lock so that the customs / TSA folks don't have to cut your lock off if they want to inspect your bag.
