Yes definitely can LOL but don't bang ppl and piak2 with the hoes.
Maps can it be gotten from the airport like what we normally practise at Asian countries( i.e HKG/TW etc ) or we have to buy the map at book stores like Kino ( no more Borders..)

I will put 110% concentration and drive very very carefully and I'd ask my wife not to rest. Long long straight roads are still ok

I'd be driving from SF to Big Sur and back
Vegas to GC and back ( not same day )
San Diego = > Anaheim => LA

avoid rush hour if possible. around 7-10am and 5-8pm

also in LA, they will tailgate you if you drive too slow.

Normally do you avoid the peak hr when you drive? When ppl go to work and ppl knock off esp in LA/SF?

ya usually i drive after 9am and after 9-10pm at night. freeway driving is still quite ok esp long drives. yup my wife also help with identifying the exits looking out for roads etc.

as what bro patryn33 mention, jus rem the peak hours. but i think the I-5 is usually quite packed. i got jammed on my way to universal and arrived late, sian.

yah jus grab whatever maps in the airport. rem to grab the vegas one, inside has some coupons for u to use. and if got time in vegas, go watch cirque du soleil shows, absolutely stunning.

driving to GC is quite long, i took a tour and slept all the way lol. i went via south rim. rem to lookout for gas stations cos along the way there might not be nearby, i think some bros mention before.

i chose the south rim. i selected a smaller tour grp of 10 in a mini bus, the bus picked us up at 6.15am. reached there abt 1pm+ , then we walked ard on our own, use the park shuttle to move ard. left at 3.45pm, reached abt 8+ pm. we set off from vegas.

there is, car pool lanes for 2 and abv. but u cant exit as u wish, got certain points to exit..

if you are planning to use the HOV lanes...just remember to input into your GPS so that it could help you plan the route..which could be different from the one not using HOV lanes. i agree that sometimes using the HOV lane might complicate matter....like for example, having to change lanes too quickly 'cos the freeway and HOV exits are too close to each other....but during peak travel hours, HOV lanes can be a godsend as long as you plan your route in advance.

How to use the HOV thingy? Mapquest ? Google Maps?

Also, I went to Tripadvisor and the ppl over there advised me to use a certain freeway, I-XX thingy. How to set this via GPS as GPS normally ask u from point A to B and the GPS will decide the routing? I really want to follow what the locals said as they say the view is more scenic. It's the drive from SF to Big Sur

For my GC drive, where should I stop for re-fuelling Kingman?

Some ppl suggested that I should take the Route 66 on my way back to Vegas from Seligman to Kingman. Some said that scenery is pretty similar. Is it worth the extra 30mins to detour to this longer but legendary road. It's a bit taxing on top of the 5.5hr drive LOL.

erhhh.....don't know....my GPS (tom-tom) would automatically ask me if i want to avoid HOV lane or not while going from point A to B (whenever there's HOV option).

don't have to plan to that detail as to where to refill.
why kingman, AZ? have U seen the map, U still have a long way to get there. U can fill up in Williams or outside Flagstaff.

AZ66 - google should be able to provide some pics for U to decide if its worth it.

Iphone are used in ATT (GSM) and Verizon (CDMA). ATT or T-mobile, ATT coverage is generally better. Verizon is better than ATT in some case.

I think push back to 6.5hrs. If you want to conserve fuel, drive like the Americans. Don't speed.

There is so little cars on the road, sometimes you wonder if overtaking can save you more time.

OK Route 66 best go to this website.

http://www.historic66.com/arizona/

Check out the westbound route only since you are returning to Vegas which should be Seligman to Topcock, except you will be turning off at Kingman to get back to Vegas via the US93.

I suggest filling up at Williams first. The section from Flagstaff to Seligman is very fragmented. No point going there but Williams is a nice town to visit.
