any one able to plot from goggle map the most ideal map from LA to GC? Is route 66 the best? Cant find on google map.

Also along the trip to GC, will there be any attraction or outlets to stop by?
I intend to set off at 7 am from LA, reached there at noon, and return by 6pm. Reached by LA at mindniight.

I will be in GC South for 24hrs I think it's not enough. If I can turn back time, I would give it at least 1.5 days there.

I'm planning to complete the from hermit's rest and complete desert view drive and also to hike down ooh ah point. I would have gone down to Cedar Trail too.

Sorry I'm going from Vegas, I think u go to GC webbie should give you all the routes.

Don't speed as in how many miles per hr?

I'm still contemplating from Seligman to Kingman and back to I40 then back to Vegas. I've got to go to Google Maps and "drive" to see what is in store.

So from Vegas to GC South, you suggest that I refuel at Williams. BTW, driving generally in the states, estimated how many hours that you drive then you have to refuel? 3-4hrs?

Also where can I take the picture of the epic Route66 sign along Seligman and Kingman?

I think push back to 6.5hrs. If you want to conserve fuel, drive like the Americans. Don't speed.

There is so little cars on the road, sometimes you wonder if overtaking can save you more time.

OK Route 66 best go to this website.

http://www.historic66.com/arizona/

Check out the westbound route only since you are returning to Vegas which should be Seligman to Topcock, except you will be turning off at Kingman to get back to Vegas via the US93.

I suggest filling up at Williams first. The section from Flagstaff to Seligman is very fragmented. No point going there but Williams is a nice town to visit.

Iphone are used in ATT (GSM) and Verizon (CDMA). ATT or T-mobile, ATT coverage is generally better. Verizon is better than ATT in some case.

U mean I can only consider Tmobile and AT&T for my local iPhone 3gs to be used there? :D

Keep to 55-65MPH or whatever the highway tells you. Just let the cruise control do the job.

Go with it for the adventure. Their tanks are around 65-75L. So you sure go a long way. With cruise control, the car can work around 12-13km/L Even for a big ol' nasty 3.5L V6.

I'm sure you can make it from Williams to Kingman with gas to spare. If you kiasu, there is this place called Gas and Grub. It is listed on Gmaps. East of Peach Springs.

Actually from LV to GC, which rim is recommended?

Depends on the time of year. If you are going in the winter months, north rim will get you into trouble. Most rentals don't have chains. Be prepared to get stuck in the snow and then spend more money for recovery team to pull your car out of something. Happened to my friend. Of course the pictures are nice for the price of paying the recovery guy. :s13:

They say north rim is closed for winter but my friend managed to still drive in and get stuck. My advice is not to try it. If it snows heavily and you are stuck, you will die of hypothermia. My advice, don't go to the north rim in winter.

South rim is open all year round. More people around but winter will see less people.

In summer months I highly recommend north rim. Less people tend to go to north rim and all the pictures you see around are usually south rim.

North sees the least visitors because you safely go in the summer. It is higher in elevation and hence colder than the south always. That is why in winter, the snow cover will usually stop you from going in. On the way in you will go through the Kaibab Forest which is on the Kaibab Plateau.

I've seen deer prancing around by the roadside. Reminds me of Bambi.

On paper from the US National Parks Service, only open in summer which is late May to Oct.

Friend went in in Dec and got stuck. Lucky can get signal and call for recovery team.

FYI, in winter, it also snows in the south rim but because it is very light snow you can still go in with normal tires.

There are no heli rides from LV to north rim at all.

No landing ah? Then you only get to see it from the air since only 10miles or so separate the north and south rim.
