So any notes that was produced in 2003 or earlier will be considered an old series notes?

I wonder if our local money changer will still take the notes.

Main issue are the US$100 and US$50. The older series are heavily counterfeited so money changers may reject them.

You can try your luck with the local money changers. The notes are still legal tender in USA so the best bet would be to use them in USA

Thanks for your suggestion.

Price looks good but does the enterprise include the CDW and various insurance? Don't see that in their prices.

Any advise on LDW/CDW ? I don't think it's included in the quotation when I make my reservation. I have $3k coverage by Travel Insurance, is it mandatory that I buy LDW/CDW?

LDW/CDW is not mandatory.

It's basically an option whereby the car rental coys waive off all the excess from the insurance claim.

You need to check with rental coy whats the excess they charge...

Have you tried comparing prices with EY and QR or other airlines?

Yes I a search on Skyscanner. EK is the only airlines that has a direct flight to MCO, other than the usual US Airlines. I just realised there is a cheaper deal under 2 to go on EK, $1571 for the route I mentioned earlier on.

Your itinerary is pretty doable, but I'd say you might want to trim a day or two out of NYC and add them on to the west coast loop; that'll make it a lot less crowded and more relaxing.

Thanks for your comments, i have amended the itinerary slightly

DATE DAY City
26/04/17 Wednesday Flight
27/04/17 Thursday NYC
28/04/17 Friday NYC
29/04/17 Saturday NYC
30/04/17 Sunday NYC
01/05/17 Monday NYC
02/05/17 Tuesday NYC
03/05/17 Wednesday NYC
04/05/17 Thursday SAN FRANCISCO
05/05/17 Friday SAN FRANCISCO
06/05/17 Saturday SAN FRANCISCO
07/05/17 Sunday Yosemite NP - start renting car
08/05/17 Monday Yosemite NP
09/05/17 Tuesday Death Valley
10/05/17 Wednesday Las Vegas
11/05/17 Thursday Las Vegas
12/05/17 Friday Las Vegas
13/05/17 Saturday GRAND CANYON
14/05/17 Sunday GRAND CANYON
15/05/17 Monday Los Angeles
16/05/17 Tuesday Los Angeles
17/05/17 Wednesday Los Angeles
18/05/17 Thursday Los Angeles
19/05/17 Friday Los Angeles
20/05/17 Saturday Flight
21/05/17 Sunday Flight

1) I have a question on the trip to Yosemite to Deathvalley area, I understand it is a long drive to Vegas, is it possible to just stop by and skim deathvalley and continue our drive to LA? I have many concerns on this day as the drive is really long.

2) the drive from GC to LA is really long too, I have delegated one day for the drive. probably we will start early in the morning and stop by some of the attraction you mention inside [Antelope Canyon, Meteor Crater, the Hoover Dam, the Valley of Fire] before reaching LA, possible?

I have booked most of the accomodations except LV & LA, let me know if there is any ways to improve on this trip thanks!

Yosemite to Death Valley is already an eight-hour drive; it's going to be 6pm already by the time you get there, and you'll be ready to stop for the night. You can't go Yosemite-Death Valley-Las Vegas in a single day and keep your sanity.

Book a room at the Furnace Creek Ranch; stop there for the night; then explore Death Valley the next morning and head to Vegas in the afternoon.

C'mon, mate, look at a map. Antelope Canyon is two hours the wrong way (north-east) from Grand Canyon Village; Meteor Crater is two hours the other wrong way (east) in completely the opposite direction; and Valley of Fire is four hours the wrong way in a third entirely opposite direction (northwest, with a big loop all the way back through Las Vegas).

If you want to hit these - you might be able to hit Antelope Canyon and Meteor Crater in one day - stay in Cameron or Page instead of Grand Canyon Village, and leave two days to get back to Los Angeles instead of one (you can stop over in Laughlin and get a cheap, decent room at the Golden Nugget casino. It's not fancy, but it's, like, forty bucks).

You can hit the Hoover Dam a lot more easily on the way from Las Vegas to GCV.

I have booked most of the accomodations except LV & LA, let me know if there is any ways to improve on this trip thanks!

So, for Las Vegas: are you a Hyatt loyalist, or a Starwood loyalist? If you're a Hyatt loyalist or "none of the above", stay at the Aria; if you're a Starwood loyalist, stay at Caesars Palace. (If you need to do it on the cheap, stay at the Mirage or the Mandalay Bay.)

So you're suggesting we get a car once we reach LA, perhaps from the airport? Will parking be an issue around LA for the places we'll be visiting? Do hotels generally provide complimentary parking?

Yes; no; not in Los Angeles, but yes everywhere else.

Also, can you suggest an itinerary for a 2D1N trip out of vegas to the GC and also where to stay?

Thanks again!

Day 1: Drive to the Grand Canyon South Rim (not the West Rim, it's nowhere near as good); maybe stop off at Hoover Dam on the way. Stay in Grand Canyon Village if you can, or Flagstaff if you can't get a room at GCV. (You can also try the motel at the Cameron Trading Post, just near the east entrance to the park.)

Day 2: go hiking around the Grand Canyon in the morning; drive back in the afternoon.

when in america, you have to splurge especially on accommodations the beds in budget hotels or motels even decent ones sometimes come with bed bugs leh so i would strongly recommend you to spend. this time too donald trump next president has said that america is a third world country because many foreigners take advantage of them. not sure if that makes any sense but he has a lot of support (you might not believe because you hear media say they protest lah this that but those are rare because its just thousands and they all happen in friendly areas like some cities.. go to rural parts and you have many trump supporters who listen to him) and many americans are out of job and are poorer than ever before and so when you spend more, you are helping them and if you don't spend and be cheapskate, some many despise you and really buy into the idea that foreigners are all there to take advantage. hope this helps! we should help americans when we can, they help us a lot before and now its time to give back. they are an almost bankrupted nation now.

- I be staying in yavapai lodge 2nights, i guess I will be just driving to LA straight with some stop overs along the way for leg stretch. doubt I can cover so much places.I will look into this further

What dates are you there? I can take a look and see what shows up; all of those three you've picked are pretty scuzzy, though.

Five seconds on Tripadvisor and I found the Linq for $76 USD a night, or the SLS for $88 a night, or the MGM Signature for $92/nt, or the Monte Carlo for $96/nt, or my personal pick the Vdara for $175/nt... where were you looking?

You should be OK if you get a car with four-wheel-drive; you might need to pay a bit more to specifically reserve one, though. (I took a 4WD Hyundai Santa Fe up to the mountains of Utah and Colorado earlier this year - drove through three fairly hefty snowstorms in three days and it never missed a beat.)

Update from Grand Canyon: Arrived bright and sunny, and slightly cloudy. While checking in.. reception has a signage showing 50% chance of snow. Woke up next morning, snowed overnight! Not heavy but fun for kids. Drove to Desert View at noon, when most snow started to melt, however half way to Desert View...shortly past the Grand view, the road was closed! Saw a BMW 7series skidded while doing a SLOW 3 pt turn! Happened to me as well! Not even 5mph! Drove in snowy condition both USA and europe...and this is the first time I skidded and at such slow speed!

Two options- T-Mobile SIM for US $30 1GB or Starhub prepared data roaming for SGD 12 for 1.2GB.

IIRC roaming always routes you back to SG? So accessing US site will be like 1s or longer ping, since traffic has to go from US to SG to US. I had 1s ping when I data roam on Singtel postpaid in Japan, when doing speedtest.

My T-mobile sim gives US$30 for 3GB of data though.
