First time I asking question in this thread.

Looking for a family trip to US, with 2x one way car rentals. How reliable is the car rental from expedia? The rates are less than 50% if I go direct to the car rental companies which I've always done so. For example, one rental expedia says S$1310 from Alamo, but when I go to Alamo, it is US$2600. Expedia says included for free the CDW and includes taxes and airport surcharges (not sure is say included in the price or need to pay later). Should I be expecting this to be the final value or what additional charges should I be expecting?

Also, it says 7 seater minivan, should I be expecting the smallest type of 7 seater (ie Toyota Wish or equivalent, or bigger ones)? Will the on-the-spot upgrade charges be the standard rate, same as I just book the car from the car rental site, or add on from the standard rate car size to standard rate car size?
Go to FlyerTalk forums, car rentals section and carefully go thru discount codes thread. Recently there was a code with Avis giving 45% off.

Hi guys,

I'll be heading to the US (San Francisco) for summer exchange program for about two months, and would like to check if there are any recommended ways to withdraw money there? Any particular banks that offer good and convenient money withdrawal options without hefty fees?

You're probably going to get slugged with fees either way, unless your Singaporean bank offers no-fee ATM withdrawals. I'd just use Chase ATMs wherever you can.

If you're only there for two months, it might be tricky to get a bank to open an account for you, but it can't hurt to drop into a Chase branch and ask; the worst they can do is say no, and Chase is usually pretty good about this sort of thing.

Hi Shiny. Thx for the inputs. My concern is that I currently have 21days or so to play with and was thinking if I should carve out another day for Zion. I was thinking if it's possible to do a drive through instead since I'm visiting A number of NP eg Yosemite, GC and Antelope Canyon haha.

Separately the journey from Yosemite to Lone Pine is a 6-7hrs drive. Should I stay over at a location or push through this journey? I was thinking if i should ditch Yosemite and travel via the coastal view from Napa down to LA instead. any thoughts on this?

You can solve both problems at once.

Instead of Yosemite to Lone Pine, go straight to Furnace Creek instead. There's nothing in Lone Pine, and it's only about half an hour longer to get to Furnace Creek. Seven-and-a-half hours is a long day's driving, but it's totally doable with an early start.

That frees up a day in your schedule to stay in Springdale (at Zion National Park).

Nope.

No overseas cash withdrawal processing fee from Citibank ATMs using Citibank ATM & Debit Card; standard foreign currency exchange rates apply. Subjected to a preset daily cash withdrawal limit of S$3,000.

Hi all

i cannot find any accommodation in the valley due to my late booking.

Could i seek assistance from anyone, if i were en-route from Napa valley to Yosemite valley to LV, is there anywhere i can stay outside the Yosemite NP?

From Napa valley to Yosemite, i am considering staying at Groveland for one night. The next morning I would be driving to Yosemite valley for a day trip before driving out to Oakhurst where i plan to stay for the night. Thereafter I would be travelling out to LV via Furnace Creek and Death valley

this is how my current route is looking like https://goo.gl/maps/BRrh9HPfcLo

There's plenty of hotels in Mariposa; if there's nothing there for your dates, you can also look at the towns along highway 99: Manteca, Modesto, Turlock and Merced.

For your second night it might even be worth leaving it open: after you leave Yosemite, just drive south as far as you can and then use Tripadvisor or HotelTonight to find a place somewhere when you get tired. Fresno, Visalia, maybe even Bakersfield (but not beyond Bakersfield; after that it's hours and hours of nothing until you reach Furnace Creek).
