Oh cook. Any recommendations for reliable and cheap car rental to recommend? Thanks

Yes there’s a trick to get free national executive membership. I think you can google for Amex platinum sign up link for national. It actually never checks if you actually have Amex platinum. With executive membership you can book cars like suv, or convertibles for same cost as cheapest car. You can also google for discount codes.

It seemed like you have pretty made up your decision with driving......
I won’t risk such driving in that part of US during winter.

Thanks for your advise, after much thoughts we decide to fly to Boston from DC and take a train to New York from Boston.

We will rent a car from New York to drive up to Woodsbury on the last few days of our trip.

Hey Marcus, got your message, have added your phone number. Will see if I can get some stuff back for you from either JFK or DCA when I fly there in Feb 2018.

Does the California fire affect Los Angeles or San Francisco if I were to go during April or May?

If I were to go to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas? how should I fly? Fly to SFO then fly back from LAX? how is united as compared to SQ for economy?

Depends on your flight. There’s direct flights to both sfo and la from Sg. For economy, United and sq not much diff from my experience, it’s in business and first where United really sucks in comparison.

Get open jaw tickets.
U may want to break the flight from sg to us and vice versa with a short transit to make it easier on your body if time permits. Can consider ANA

If you are asking about SIN-SFO/LAX non-stop flight, be it either UA or SQ, one word - avoid at all costs.

18h non-stop in economy is beyond my inconvenience levels. I am fine with SFO-HKG 14.5h flights, but 17-18h crosses the line.

It’s only around 9-10hrs for that one leg of the flight. It’s endurable with some noise cancelling headphones and sleeping pills, but yes economy is painful, even premium economy which I tried once is still pretty bad. Your butt will hurt. I usually save credit card miles for business or first if possible.
