For kids aged 12 and below, they are allowed to travel on the VTL provided they are accompanied by a VTL traveller. In return they must undergo the same PCR tests (pre-departure and upon arrival with the exception of those aged 2 and below).

NY also just starting to roll out vaccines for kids so the quarantine thing might change in the future.

I'm renting a car in California + Arizona, I emailed to ask about the insurance and they replied this:

We would like to inform you that, generally speaking, for Hertz rentals in the USA we offer rates already inclusive of the below coverage:
- Loss Damage Waiver (LDW): full coverage for damage and theft to/of our vehicle, without any excess (except California and Nevada, where there is a non-waivable excess in case of vandalism-unrelated-to-theft of US$ 500.00 for California and US$ 2500.00 for Nevada);
- Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS): cover third parties and third parties' property up to US$ 1 million (US$ 2 millions in California and Florida).

So I'm quite confused...with the above, does it mean that I'll be fully covered? Is there anything else that I'll need?

This may be an old post but I thought it is useful for anyone to know the answer. I just returned from California (and I drove) . Hertz California LIS and LDW are included in rate *IF* you are a non-resident ie. address in your ID is non USA. When you book on Hertz web site, choose Singapore for location of origin, your LIS and LDW included rate is then included. If you happen to book from US and choose US (default), your total charges incl LIS and LDW may be ~ 2.5 times more (well based on my own rental. In California, LIS and LDW is made optional but as you may have been advised by many , include them.

It seems too long to be in just NYC for 10-12 days for tourist purposes.

If you have accommodations that are cheap and you are taking time to experience living in a major city, and if you like museums, it could be an enjoyable two weeks.

PS. I was there in summer of 2018 for 2 weeks living in an apartment with kitchen near to the central park. Had a great memorable 3 days out in Washington DC to fill the 2 weeks.

I've spent 2 weeks in NYC and I felt it wasn't sufficient. There's plenty to do and see in NYC.

When are u going n what do u like to do?

Do u also drive?
Hard to get around outside of NYC if u don't drive.

10 to 12 days just in NYC is rather long I feel.
It is just a giant ugly city with plenty of museums.
4 days was more than enough for me.

I suggest also going to Washington DC to see the capital of the USA.
Have many museums n monuments there.

Boston is nice as well for a few days.
If u like nature, go up to Maine n New Hampshire.

Can drive there or take train or plane.
Staying just in the city, public transport is enough.

But if u want to visit the national parks, def need to drive.

domestic no COVID test.
Current CDC recommendation is self quarantine 5 days but I don’t think anyone follow since no repercussion for not doing so.

with inflation things more expensive. Tip restaurants expect 18-20%. Food quantity like reduce 30% while cost is up

Do u need a local usa number?

If not, check your sg phone provider to see what is their data roaming charge.
For only 2.5 weeks, might be worth just using the roaming package.

U can also try Yogofi
They have local sg branch n they provide roaming data

Hi

Planning for a driving trip to California this June for about 2 weeks. Flying into LA and out of SF.

Does this high level schedule make sense? I will have a couple of spare days that I can use for additional places or to extend the stay at one of the locations, so appreciate any suggestions too.

1) Land in the morning and spend 3 nights at LA. 1 day at Disneyland.
2) Drive to flagstaff and stay 2 night. 1 day will be spent at GC, Antelope Canyon, horseshoe bend
3) 2 nights at Las vegas
4) Drive via death valley National Park to reach Yosemite and stay 3 nights
5) drive to sf and stay 3 nights

Thanks in advance

The 3 nights in LA...maybe since u go down to Disney already, can drive south for another 1.5 hour, spend 1 night in san diego. Not a bad place too...if u wan some place to visit there i can share with you. 2 Nights at Vegas should be good...just got to make sure now 99% of the hotels there all charge for parking already unless u have certain tier of membership. If you are into shopping, spare 1 extra night to go to desert hill premium outlet, about 1.5 hour away from LA/SD. Or u can go to the one at SF also equally good.

Thanks for sharing, will you be able to share whats interesting about San Diego? I browsed the list of things to do and didn't really stand out.

The LV outlets you are referring to are the LV South/LV North Premium Outlets right?

Have you driven the PCH from SF to Big Sur? Was thinking to insert a night between Yosemite and SF at Monterey

u not going to universal studios?
LA to Flagstaff is ~7hr drive, same as 7hrs to Grand Canyon. Why dont stay in Grand Canyon can enjoy sun set and sun raise?
making flagstaff a base and want to do GC, Antelope in 1 day that is not very doable. the drive from Flagstaff->Grand Canyon-> Antelope -> Flagstaff is ~7hr total. what is your plans to see Grand Canyon? 10-30mins each stop? with Antelope, you need to book tours to go down. each tour is like 1-2hr and you have to wait for your turn to go down. Its not like you reach there, u pay in 10mins you down. You may have to wait ~1hr or longer depending on season, if tickets sold out then too bad. June is peak season and hot. you may want to book your tour early and see if you can get there like 15-30mins before tour starts.

you may want to map out drive times and give yourself time in the location.

u plan to stay 3 nites in Yosemite national park? that is a good if you love out doors and enjoy hikes.

San Diego not much to do unless U like Sea World and the zoo. I enjoyed Seaworld alot. some ppl loved the zoo.
Outlet these days terrible prices. the shelfs are not full. In the past, less touristy outlet have better clearance deals. if u not looking for clearance deals, selections same same. USA inflation prices going up and still going up.

the drive SF-Big Sur is a must do, great views.
