Anybody rented a car in US before? Besides Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) insurance for rented car, what other insurances I need to buy when I rent the car in US?
I am thinking of renting a car to drive to LA when I am there next month!
Also any place to buy GPS near Union Square? Will be staying at chancellor hotel

am juz back from US last weekend. I rented from Hertz, din took up additional insurance though they offered me one that covers 3rd party & thank God no accident, shouldn't be problem if you drive carefully coz US drivers are generally more careful & patient than some of our local *******s
Union Square more of fashion malls, maybe you should try along Market St instead, juz south of Union Square.
Anybody brought Bakkwa to the US? Those that are vacuum packed, are they allowed?
no meat allowed of any kind...u can try but will end up as a treat to the custom

I just got back from my maiden USA trip. Was in California most of the time and rented from Alamo. I was advised by a fren who stayed there for 2yrs to take up the additional insurance. The compensation there is crazy! You also do not know what kinda stun they will pull... I've hrd some stories of unreasonable stuff like asking to pay for some light scratches found on the car which u didn't even notice.
Anyway, I took up the insurance, just to have a piece of mind. Don;t recall any electronic shops in Union Sq. You can try Chinatown. Best bet is to go to the Best Buy store near to Japantown. It's a huge electronic store!
yup... anyway, I got a pretty good deal. I actually got the car from Disney and drove all te way to vegas and dropped it there. They didn;t charge me a drop fee unlike hertz or Avis. The fee range from USD150-300! Alamo also gave me a Full CDW... so I only purchase the additional 3rd party claim insurance etc... paid extra US$13/day for a piece of mind... Just buy 1 tee shirt less a day to cover the cost lor... hahaWhat you said is true. It is not the car claims. It is all the other claims that they pwn you jialat.
Be tourist, better have peace of mind. The insurance is inexpensive compared to what will be loaded to you when you get into an accident.

Besides nyc,dc,orlando, vegas,sf and la, where else is popular with tourists or recommended to visit? Seattle? Texas? Chicago?
No need visa. Get the ESTA. That's all.
