Yes, try Cheesecake factory while you can. The prices are very reasonable for the price you get, even their mains are rather big portions. I wonder if it's ever possible to franchise that brand. None of the cheesecake here can compare to theirs. Tried the reese's, classic and white choc before. Uber-licious.

Anybody rented a car in US before? Besides Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) insurance for rented car, what other insurances I need to buy when I rent the car in US?

I am thinking of renting a car to drive to LA when I am there next month!

Also any place to buy GPS near Union Square? Will be staying at chancellor hotel

am juz back from US last weekend. I rented from Hertz, din took up additional insurance though they offered me one that covers 3rd party & thank God no accident, shouldn't be problem if you drive carefully coz US drivers are generally more careful & patient than some of our local *******s =:p

Union Square more of fashion malls, maybe you should try along Market St instead, juz south of Union Square.

You take a calculated risk.

I just got back from my maiden USA trip. Was in California most of the time and rented from Alamo. I was advised by a fren who stayed there for 2yrs to take up the additional insurance. The compensation there is crazy! You also do not know what kinda stun they will pull... I've hrd some stories of unreasonable stuff like asking to pay for some light scratches found on the car which u didn't even notice.

Anyway, I took up the insurance, just to have a piece of mind. Don;t recall any electronic shops in Union Sq. You can try Chinatown. Best bet is to go to the Best Buy store near to Japantown. It's a huge electronic store!

What you said is true. It is not the car claims. It is all the other claims that they pwn you jialat.

Be tourist, better have peace of mind. The insurance is inexpensive compared to what will be loaded to you when you get into an accident.

yup... anyway, I got a pretty good deal. I actually got the car from Disney and drove all te way to vegas and dropped it there. They didn;t charge me a drop fee unlike hertz or Avis. The fee range from USD150-300! Alamo also gave me a Full CDW... so I only purchase the additional 3rd party claim insurance etc... paid extra US$13/day for a piece of mind... Just buy 1 tee shirt less a day to cover the cost lor... haha

Texas is big! as big as CA and ppl here don't even go to places like San Diego, Napa, Sonoma valley!

besides the typical cities the ppl here go to.
try
- Sedona, AZ (big with Jap tourist over the last 2 yrs)
- Tucson, AZ
- Antelope Canyon, AZ
- Portland, OR
- Columbia River Gorge, OR
- Napa, CA
- Sonoma, CA
- Seattle, WA
- Yellowstone
- Mt Rushmore
- Boston, MA
- Philly
- tons of interesting places up in the Northeast.
- Keywest, FL
and the list go on.. where U want to go and explore.. I stayed here over a decade and each yr I am discovering interesting places to visit.

Hi guys. How did you all rent a car and drive it across the state? Is it a service they are offerin at US ? I will be going to the states and was thinking of renting a car and drive from LV to LA.. And then fly back to Singapore. Is it possible that I drop the rented car at LA airport?

Thanks!
