People who have been to grand canyon, is the west rim or south rim better? Tried searching online and most pple seems to favour south rim. But from the itinerary from Papillion Tour, west rim seems to have more stops and its nearer to Las Vegas (typical Singaporean mentality i guess. Hahaha).

The below are the link for south and west rim respectively. Itinerary is shown on the second tab. Can someone advise? Thanks!

Las Vegas Grand Canyon South Rim and Hoover Damn Bus Tour - Papillon

Grand Canyon Bus Tours - Grand Canyon West Rim Bus Tour

If you are there in summer, North Rim is a must because fewer visitors but harder to get there. I drove 2hrs from Kanab to the North Rim. North Rim is closed for the winter due to snows.

West rim is still on Indian land so you don't get the US Parks pass advantage and still have to pay.

South Rim is still under US Parks so can still use your US Parks pass to go in.

If you are self-driving, I highly recommend the US Parks pass. Can get from their offices.

Before I went, when I researched, I saw that ppl says west rim better. Hmm but anyways, I went west rim and I think if u wanna do the skywalk, it's only available in the west rim, then get the eagle looking formation etc. pretty good experience anyways :D

14-18 days can be tight if U want to cover NYC in those days.
Anyway,

fly into SFO - U would want to spend 2-3 days there to check out fisherman wharf etc. if U are interested in Napa that is 1 day.
Drive from SFO to LA can take 1-2 days stopping to see big sur, Yosemite.
In LA, you might want to spend 3-4 days to see theme parks and studios etc.
if U want to drive to San Diego - 1 day checking Sea World (really worth the time)
U might want to check out Death Valley on your way to Vegas
Vegas you might want to spend 2-3 days there, if U are interest in Grand Canyon and Wild West, U might want to spend 2 days seeing parts of Utah and over nite at Grand Canyon.

That's ~16 days, fly to NYC just throws a day away.

if U are in NYC - ppl like to spend 3-5days there.

I am thinking of heading to the US in December (during Xmas period).

CUrrently I face a few issues: I want to visit NYC, so that would mean flying into the east coast, but there isn't much else I want to do there, other than the few factory outlet shopping and attractions in NYC.

Should I take an internal flight to LA and visit the disneyland nearby and drive around that area? Advisable to go there in winter or will the cold spoil all the fun?

what do U want to do in USA? theme parks? or rides? U might not be aware of what is out there in the northeast. when U say east, there is always Disney world, much bigger than tiny Disneyland.

I won't advise going to theme parks in winter man. Personally, I feel that theme parks are for summer weather. NYC in Dec will be frigid cold, you might encounter snow storms if you're unlucky which means delay for flights. Are you travelling alone/family/couple?

Because i am going alone. I try to keep the cost per night below 200usd

King George, Union 8 all these are around the same areas right.

Dont know still got what to do over there.

You open on staying in private room hostel? Check out Orange Village hostel. Friendly koreans running the place and you get hot and yummy waffles for breakfast everyday. It's about 70/night last time I went last year. Location is ideal too, 2 streets away from union square only. If I'm not wrong, it's just beside Super 8.

winter in LA or Orlando isn't winter from what one imagine all white.
There is plenty of sunshine and no snow; better yet not that HOT.
so I don't see an issue going to Disneyland in Dec/Jan.
