There are lots of routes to Seattle from sin.

U can transit in Taipei, Narita or Incheon.
ANA uses 787 to Seattle.
Korean air has very good economy seats.

I would suggest flying direct from Asia to Seattle to avoid going through airport security in usa transit.

U can also have a stopover in tpe/nrt/icn as well on the way back.
Mini vacation :)

Might be heading to Seattle this July for an event. Not sure which route is the best. If fly to sfo only got 777. If go to LAX got 380. If you buy directly from SQ for sin to sea, the transit time is 1 hour plus which makes it pretty tight to transfer.

In terms of doing something fun - means getting out from the airport and come back SFO is magnitude better than LAX. LAX is plain crappy, period.

You can spend 20 hours in San Francisco way better than in any other city in States. Just my IMHO.

True. They do have exhibitions running there all the time inside and out.

I truly hope that you are not flying on UA. If yes... I truly hope that you are seated in Y.

But if yes and yes, well, take double dosage sleeping pill to pass out for 13h flight.

UA/SQ are flying 777 to SFO, NH flies 777 to SJC.

Yes. Taking UA. Better connecting flights to San Jose Del Cabo. Also company policy to take UA.

Yea. Was considering ANA. It's a bonus if it's star alliance partner airlines. Sq is about $3k if I choose sin to sea. But the US leg is on United and an Airbus 320 though it's only 2 hours, I can probably live with that.

$3k in economy on sq is way too much I feel.
Business class would be a super deal!
SQ is simply overrated nowadays.

If u want star alliance, I would suggest ANA. Very good food n service plus jpn mm :)
Asiana is not bad too but long transit in ICN and their planes from SIN to ICN are horrible.

For $3k and less, u can try Eva air premier economy.
Earn money 110% miles on krisflyer.

Eva, ANA and Asiana all fly direct to Seattle with 2 flights total.

If u take sq, u have to take 3 flights including a dreaded UA domestic economy.

NH has great food, however the portions are quite small and they do not have snacks available. They expect people to sleep as you depart SIN at midnight, however, once step on the plane, I'll force myself to adjust to the destination timezone, thus not sleeping as much as possible during this phase of the flight and getting hungry faster than others. I've resorted to bringing my own snacks and cup noodles on board.

Also, the new economy seats are a killer, with reclining into your own leg space. Being 1.8m tall, seated with no recline already have no leg space, so I can only recline like 30%, super uncomfortable for long haul. Luckily, I had the old seats last year May, but this year should have most, if not all, refurbished. Taken NH for 2 trips, 8 flights, with the recent trip (May 2013) with 3/4 flights having the new seats already. Refurbished planes are only good for better IFE as well as USB plug for charging phone / ipads.

IFE wise, only a handful of hollywood movies (which will most likely repeat on the return flight) and a few chinese movies plus majority of Japanese movies.

Asiana is not bad too but long transit in ICN and their planes from SIN to ICN are horrible.
Last time I took OZ, economy was very empty, can lie down and sleep, if you're lucky. Didn't really use the IFE, since redeye.

I'm fine with UA domestic just to take SQ for the longer legs. UA / NH long haul are just dreadful, unless I'm able to upgrade to J on UA, however, which would be on my own dime rather than company's. Transit is fine with lounge access, that comes with internet access and easily available power point. SQ still the best for seat / power point / USB / IFE / food etc.

ANA no longer has overnight flight from Singapore to japan. It's now a daily 6am morning flight. NH112 and NH902 were merged into NH802

Thanks for the correction. Somehow, their flights departing to USA do not all fall into a suitable timing for NH802, arriving at 2pm at NRT. Like flights to IAD, ORD and JFK (seems like midwest / east coast) depart at 11am, to take NH all the way would require an overnight stay at NRT, or it would be on UA (mainly 3pm departures). Since my flights would most likely be heading there, NH should be out of the question if I'd like to avoid UA. Beats me as to why they removed the NH902 timing.

Booking with flights.google.com is DA BOM!

OK I'm taking the opportunity to visit friends and relatives in Canada for this trip to Mexico. So I decided to give the above webservice from Google a whirl. Chose Multi-City.

So it is SIN - SJD (San Jose del Cabo). Then SJD - YVR and then YVR - SIN. So sticking with the company policy of flying UA. I chose UA for the departing flight going to NRT - LAX and then SJD.

Then from SJD to YVR, I stuck with my colleagues on the same UA flight out but parted ways at SFO which connected me to YVR via Air Canada with their new spiffy ER190 jets.

For my return after a couple of days in Vancouver, I was offered ANA. I clicked it. The button came up as [Book with United]. Was damn delighted. Book with it. Total cost? SGD2491! My colleagues flight out is the same connecting at SFO then with a UA B747 to NRT then finally to SIN. Their cost? 2430! I got a longer distance for SGD61.

The funny thing with this flights.google.com is that this ANA portion being booked with United didn't come up all the time.

It came up as [Book] which will prompt you to call ANA to book with their 1800 number listed. I had the option [Book with United] yesterday while searching. So today, I did it again refreshing the search every time until I get [Book with United].

Yep! Somehow it works like this. The Air Canada flight to YVR from SFO was booked under United as well. I clocked lotsa miles for SGD61 more!

I just tried. 17-22 July. But not sure why ANA sites can't let me proceed past the flight timings page. Seems that seats are really limited already.

I won't say much here since this is a thread on US. I have marked out some places to go in Baja California Sur.

Visiting the Arch
Visiting Todos Santos to see the original Hotel California
Of course seeing the town of Cabo San Lucas because I'm staying at San Jose del Cabo
I'm forgoing the advice not to drive to La Paz. I will drive to La Paz.

Now if I can find time for all of them......

5 places to visit in Baja California Sur | Crazy sexy fun traveler

OK, regarding flights/airlines (UA/ANA/SQ and everything else) - go to the flyertalk's relevant sub-forum and ask your question there. You will get much more qualified answer.

Short tip here - take a look at flights offered at ITA Matrix before starting asking questions. Also Hipmunk uses ITA's engine and some language codes as well.

United just relaunched their Taipei-San Francisco direct flight. Combined with SIN-TPE flight by Scoot/Jetstar the total cost should be cheaper by a couple hundred, for those who wanna save that. My test booking net 200+ savings. :s22:

Just wanna ask for some opinions:

Think we should drive or take the public transport in San Francisco? We will be staying in The Orchard Hotel (In/ Near Union Square). We're travelling as 2D + 1C (2.5yrs old). The last time we went there in 2008 as a couple, we rented a car, and end up didn't took the Famed cable car, tram etc. But, this time round, with a toddler in tow, really dunno if we should just take a rental car or the PT in SF. Dunno how child-friendly are they?

Will be in SF for 4D3N. Thinking of visiting the following places of interest:
1. Bay Area Discovery Museum,
2. Golden Gate Bridge,
3. Yerba Buena Gardens,
4. SFO Zoo (Still not definite, as if we're heading to San Diego, then will go to SD zoo instead),
5. Fisherman Wharf,
6. Some shopping at Union Square or whichever Factory Outlet that's near

Does scoot / jetstar interline with UA? Or do you have to collect your luggage and re-check in at TPE? Budget carriers will not be responsible if you miss your connecting flight.

If it is just $200+ savings over SQ and less than 10% ticket price. I'd rather opt for SQ. More miles / benefits on *A over Scoot / Jetstar.

Nope, no interline. So separate check in is required. Agree with u, but some people still want savings anyway(as long as enough time is provided in between both flights) :s22:
