i rather fly in the shortest time and spend a day recovering for jag lag, why stop over day in Europe for 6-10 hours. Your body clock still messed up.

Flight schedule vary so u can start looking now for the date u interested to fly to get an idea. You can use kayak.com or flightscanner.com

I love transiting in Narita. Can go out and eat some yummy food and relax if you choose flights with sufficient transit time.

I think so. I can only say fares range from $1.2-$1.6 when I was doing my searches on kayak two weeks before my travel date. Some people say booking 6 months in advance is cheaper but I don't see the difference.

Settle with cash then. Carry notes in $20 bills and put your money in both pockets. Yes. That way if you get robbed, just take out the money from the pocket with less amount.

Do not put your wallet in your back pocket too. Keep it in front.

6 mths in adv helps with getting the flights you want and potentially cheaper flights. In a peak travel season cheaper better flights sold out and one is left with more expensive and poor schedule.
Seats not good, cannot nice up front maybe in exit row

Peak season prices may go up too due to demand

Guess me travelling in September was off peak? Because I got a good price and good middle seats on the plane. In fact, there was nobody sitting beside me on my trip to NYC and back :)

Months like jan - early jun and mid sept to early nov are off peak.
But if there is big world event going on prices will go up fast again.

If your stop is a major airline hub prices can go up too as it approaches your departure date.

Has anybody taken Air China to US before? How's the flight experience in Economy? Thinking about flying them to Washington DC since they are the cheapest and only 1 layover at Beijing. Probably flying in November.

I was intending to go to the US of A earlier this year but didn't. Did some research though. Air China has better reviews than Delta online. I have flown Air China to Beijing before. Flight is pretty comfortable. No personal screen though. It's no biggie for me. I flew SQ recently and didn't even use the entertainment system. My understanding is that Air China has a recently received new aircraft for the US and Canada routes. Ill go with Delta only for the air miles as I have recently flown long haul with Sky Team. Air China is part of the Star Alliance but I think the promo price is only entitled to a certain % of miles.

Thanks for the feedback. Have never taken Air China before either on short, medium, or long haul. Only reason I'm taking them is the price and only 1 layover. Would have preferred to take ANA but it was twice the price. I see they're using A333 for SIN-PEK and B773ER for for PEK-IAD. Yeah only 25% miles earned in their own program, will credit to elsewhere instead.

What is online spend?

www.airchina.sg is the official website for Air China. Pre-selection of seats (online) allowed.

Trying to see which CC to use to earn points/miles for the transaction. Some CCs having promotion on online transactions. Online spend would be charges made without swiping the card.

Hi all,

I am going to the US in early November period and staying in Anaheim area (bringing my kid to Disneyland)

Considering 2 days of shopping also….is there any outlet or shopping malls nearby Anaheim worth going? Hope those that have some itinerary can share abit more with me as I am doing some planning now.

I remember transportation to shopping malls by taxi are expensive….family of 4 cost USD$70-80 one way to the citadel outlet previously when I went in 2011.

Does SG license make it easier to drive on US road as well? GPS along with rental, will it be easy?

Driving should be fine if you're okay with driving on the wrong side of the road and looking the opposite direction. :s13:

It is easier since roads wider, it does take a little time to adjust like 5mins to be reminded you driving on other side. after a while its ok. GPS helps a great deal to let U know how to make turns. buying a GPS with traffic help. buying a nüvi 55LMT is like usd$100 and u can use it in SG. sure u can use phone garmin navi cheaper.

2 days for shopping. near in USA means 2hr drive, U ok?

for something close look at this, not sure if they have the selection u need. if
http://www.simon.com/mall/the-outlets-at-orange/stores

Just get s car with gps from car rental company. Those custom made gos are easy to use. Otherwise load your phone with some offline map.

I am using the Hertz Neverlost GPS now (did not request for it, but the rental car came with it), not a big fan of it, rather use google maps on the phone, unless there is really no reception for data, then that GPS comes in handy. The touchscreen isn't calibrated properly, entry of destination address is still the same laborious process as ten years ago. No traffic information means the shortest route might not be the fastest route.

Was travelling from San Diego to Vegas, the Hertz GPS asked me to go I-15 -> I-215 -> I-15, when travelling on I-15 all the way is the easier route instead of changing of freeways, supposedly, by the GPS, this is like 10 minutes faster. Google maps simply shows I-15 all the way.

There's this "The Outlet" Mall nearby, seems to be a small semi-outlet place, but not so much of the branded stuff, I might be going back to check on more stuff and will report back. I'm staying in Anaheim right now, I-5 is undergoing extensive roadworks and the jams on I-5 can be quite bad.

SIN-IAD

Seems NH fares to IAD is getting more and more expensive. Seems like the average price is around $2k+ nowadays... That is scary... Used to see $1k+ fares but nowadays it's almost non-existent.

My alternative nowadays is QR ($1.5k promo) and CA ($1.1k average).

Forget the bus - take Caltrain. It's less than two hours from San Jose Diridon station to San Francisco 4th Street. Just go to the station, buy the ticket, and hop on.

Hi all, requesting help and suggestions!

Planning for a 2-3 week trip to US next May. Looking to spend some quality time in Yellowstone and am not adverse to travelling to neighboring states. A mixture of nature and city life would be good. Has anyone made a similar trip?

Appreciate suggestions on itinerary, and also on Yellowstone. Some 'facts' below:
- Looking at May/June 2016
- Looking to travel as a couple (2 people) or as a group of 4
- I can't drive! (Probably have to get around on flights). If travelling around as a group of 4, will probably still only have 1 driver.

TIA!
