Are you kidding? Visa announced stock split around Jan 29, Until now, it has basically stayed the same, did you buy at the height?

I'm still waiting for $240 to go and grab more.

Straight after the announcement i saw it nice and green...so i thought i will buy a few more which was on 4th Feb (264.89 close)....silly me.

Thankfully it is the only share at the moment that isnt doing well due to my greed....the rest are good and happy

Dude, that's too short a span to worry. It might go to 240 before going up. But at the moment, I see it going up every quarter, don't worry.

Guess it is the typical gal in me...ruled by emotions...i have to keep myself in check. Been playing with Singapore shares for a couple of years...only just started to dip my toes into US shares this year. Shares move up and down a lot faster...just gotta keep reminding myself that seeing as the shares I have purchased are for the long haul...i just gotta keep calm. :)

just need to find a good entry point for ATLS...need two more shares to round up the figure before the merger.

Vested: AAPL, ATLS,BRK.B, DIS, GILD, LUK, MAIN, MEIP, V

Hi sorry, kinda new in here.

I would like to know if it is possible to buy less than 100 stocks in IB? I have opened the account but the seems like the minimum share purchase is 100?

Thanks,

Yes, u can buy odd lots.

I still highly recommend 100 lots - for options selling! :o

Since that felixleong is still banned, let me give you all a bit of news.

Tonight there will be greek talk.
Refer to
Greece braced for crunch talks with eurozone finance ministers - live updates | Business | The Guardian

and this
Greek finance minister enters the lions' den - Business Insider

The result will likely cause a ripple movement tonight/tomorrow. Barring drastic measures like Grexit, this talk will most likely be just another news next week or next month.

This is noise. Sit tight.

PEP earnings beat by 0.04
Breaks $100 in pre-market
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money...cola-soft-drinks-beverages-earnings/23191889/

PepsiCo reported core earnings per share of $4.63 for the full year, on organic revenue growth of 5% for the quarter and 4% for the full year. Consensus for the full year was $4.59.

Vested.

Nobody knows how Chinese gov will work with Alibaba. Their Alipay is interesting, like paypal. Thing is, how confident are you in the company.

Here's a few report you can go and see, and as always read the comments too.

Report: Alipay parent set to raise funds at $30B valuation - Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) | Seeking Alpha

Alibaba Going Global Part IV: And The Money Keeps Rolling In... - Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) | Seeking Alpha

The Biggest Risk Facing Alibaba Moving Forward - Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) | Seeking Alpha

Here's a bear view
Rhetoric Eases, Troubles Remain In Alibaba Piracy Spat - Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) | Seeking Alpha

Personally, I'm vested with the grand total of 1 share, as you can tell, it doesn't affect me 1 bit whether it's up/down. I'm taking a punt here, if it goes to $150 or more, my interest might grow.

US market remain flat while Europe Greek talk is still ongoing. No deal has been reached yet.

Though US market remain flat, it was a pretty good one for me as some of my more heavily vested counter outdo the greater number of less vested negative counters.

IDRA is up 6%+ (waiting to trim)
PEP is up 2.46% after a good earnings report (half position, accumulating)
MO is up 1.84% (full position, hold)
GILD is up 1.69% (half position, accumulating)
AAPL is up 2.34% (full position)

LINE is down 5% (small counter after trimming at $13)
APL is down 3% (more heavily vested to complete my round up for the M&A)
EXAS is down 2.2% (small counter)
PSEC is down 1.74% (small counter)
NKE is down 1.55% (just started)
EPD is down 1.47% (just started)
BABA is down 1.44% (small counter)
T is down 1.32% (small counter, accumulating)
WFC is down 1.23% (small counter, accumulating)

On another note, oil counters are mostly down. WTI drops below $50, Brent still maintaining above $55.

Greece Fact:
1. It's GDP is smaller than Singapore.
2. 10M population
3. Have been running budget deficit since 1980. But they are not US.
4. They want good life but can't pay for it
5. Like Argentina, they are a recalcitrant debtor

Solution: Bring back the drachma and print... print... print... and hope the tourist will flock back. Haggle with creditors and write down their debt.

out of curiosity...why NKE instead of UA?

NKE has room for mistakes, it has a world wide recognition brand, a long term play. Basically, being a overly diversified guy, the less attention is needed the better. NKE happens to be that company which will always be there or there about barring any catastrophic events.

UA is nice, I just did a bit of reading up on it. I may wanna buy into it too. It's growth prospect for the short-mid term looks good.

You certainly can pick between one or the other. And I believe you know what you are doing, base on the counter you pick and the questions you asked so far. Just need to buy in a smaller amount perhaps, an amount which let you sleep well at night.

i got a feeling in time to come...UA will be up there with the big boys...eg: coke and Pepsi. The potential/growth is there. Agree that NKE is a safer bet but it seems like one of those companies that have decided to just chill and take it easy. UA seems hungry.

UA seem to have realised that the shoe market is big, and they are starting to address that problem. I see growth there.

Agree with you, mid term it looks good...possibly long term.

You might find this article interesting. http://seekingalpha.com/article/2888116-under-armour-may-keep-outperforming-nike-for-years

I have BABA on my watchlist too...but I am not vested. I think there is a chance it could drop to the 70s...and that is when I will probably pick up a couple of shares.

China market is a lil too murky for me. So I will only pick this up if it is cheap...and throw in a couple of bucks...ignore the stock for a long time...take it off my watchlist...look back say in 6-months...I will either be pleasantly surprised, or laugh at myself for taking the gamble. This one could be a rollercoaster ride the next few months, and I don't wanna fret over it.

That's my two cents

paging for her soon! :d

meanwhile for coke and pepsi lovers

Decline of Coke and Pepsi: Soda is unhealthy and people don’t want it anymore.

Pity the company whose most iconic and cherished product also becomes one of its least popular. That's the reality for Coca Cola and PepsiCo, whose customers have grown disillusioned with the sodas they once loved so much. On Tuesday, Coke said its profit in the fourth quarter of 2014 tumbled 55 percent from the previous year on lackluster demand for sugary and diet soft drinks. And on Wednesday morning, Pepsi reported a 24 percent decline in year-over-year earnings for the same period.
