BTW FYI, the info you enter during registration can be wrong and you still will be successful in registering, just that your passport will get a verification error at the machines, due entering a wrong passport number.

Don't ask me how I know :ROFLMAO:

Very true. It could even be something as simple as a comma.

For example,

Tan Ah Kow, Jason

vs

Tan Ah Kow Jason

The former is stated on the passport and recorded in the RFID chip inside it. But sometimes people forget to type in the comma in the MDAC form or think that it is insignificant.

As for the fingerprint machines being down and someone mentioning earlier that they are changing the system,

my understanding is that the immigration side signed a 12-year contract with a company to be provide, operate and maintain the fingerprint system known as National Foreigners Enforcement Registration System (NERS). From 2011 (when the system was first implemented) to 2023.

So it is likely that the contract duration is up and they are getting new vendors.

I have registered egate at KLIA and used it numerous times when arriving and departing from KLIA1/KLIA2. Do I need to do a registration again if I cross over to Malaysia via JB ? Or I can just fill up the online form and proceed straight to the egate? Thank you.

Just complete MDAC & use the E-Gate at JB - no harm trying since you successfully enrolled for MACSv02 via KLIA.

You can't register when entering at JB anyway since they are upgrading the machines for registering.

Keep us updated.

Thanks

Dear All,

Abit gutted to read that the e-gate registration is down. But thanks for sharing this info.

Question: Can we do the e-gate registration at the customs at "Tebrau train shuttle" instead of the CIQ customs?

Entry via train from SG to JB doesn't have this service, as far as I know ie no E-Gate facilities ie passports must be stamped.

If you are flying to KL or Penang you may try to register there.

i register my fingerprint at the manual counter on Mar 2023 but did not use the egate to come out.
Just now tried the MDCA website, it show [You are not eligible to use the e-gate facility. Please proceed to the manual counter.] so does it mean i have to re-register again at the manual counter again?

Probably it means you're not eligible - don't know why you're not eligible though.

That means if I have both dialet and hanyupinying on my passport, i must enter both names when registering?

Can always try the e-gate first. If cannot then go through manual.

I also got the 'not eligible' when I checked, before the first time I used the egate. But I went ahead anyway and got through.

Subsequent MDAC submissions and eligibility checks always showed 'eligible'. The egate has always worked for me since then.
