Recently my child was born but being inexperienced first time parents we are very stress up. Did not imagine suddenly we were carrying a baby back.

Things like is baby sleep longer then usual beyond feeding time do we wake him up? How do we care about him or things we should or should not do? We were taught Cup feeding if breast milk was not enough but I hate that Method because baby kept choking and it’s very hard to control. Nipple confusion was the reason given etc.

Are there any guide or info online to successfully taking care of your baby?

How old is your child? Mine is 16months and she's the best thing I ever had. My second one is upcoming.
Just read up more and practice what you learn. Practice makes you better, same as everything else.
I got to say, my wife did alot more than what I can do. Mothers are really amazing

You can ask specific questions here and we can share experiences.

Mine is only few days old. Trying to get a hold of it. Hope to give my best for my precious baby. Just felt v lost and it doesn’t help that the nanny agency Confinement angels cock things up. From the day my wife difacharged till a day later nanny have yet to come.

Thank you so much for offering your help. Really appreciate it.

1. Is it we really must do Cup feeding?
2. If baby sleep beyond their feeding time do we wake them up? We feed with formula milk first as breast milk not yet ready.

You do not have any help from family members like your mom or wife's mom?

1) where did you learn about cup feeding? A few days old baby I don't believe can drink properly let alone with cup. We used syringes to feed in the early days if want to avoid nipple confusion & don't want to start bottle so soon

2) its normal that milk supply haven't come in but keep latching even if you think there's no milk. The more you latch the faster milk will come. Eat more food like oats to help. It's normal to feel that baby is not taking enough milk, just monitor the pee, if got pee don't worry. Try to rely less on formula if you intent to breastfeed for long unless you are facing jaundice problem which you need the baby to drink and pee/poo asap.

Don't worry about scheduling of the baby yet. Let the baby sleep if he wants to & not crying. If he cry it's either hungry or diaper (mostly is hungry). If 2hr already baby never cry just try to pump. With good feeding+pumping interval helps milk to kick in too.

Just remember to monitor output & baby cry. If breastfeed you can't monitor input so trust your wife. With more experience she will roughly know how much the baby drank. Practice makes perfect.

The first month is the easiest but lack of experience makes it toughest for most of us. Encourage your wife! Bfing really not easy

I have 2 kids (now 5 & 7yo). Personally I was winging it most of the time.

Not sure just google it. My mum and MIL gave some pointers but mostly outdated.

We started bottle feeding on day 1 since my wife didnt produce enough milk. Later on pump and use bottle to feed. Easier in the long run.

I don't think your baby can recognise people yet. In fact the eyesight still blurish. Don't think so much, just make sure baby have the basic needs. Your wife needs you more than the baby.
She's suffering from post pregnancy depression.

Encourage her more with your words. Pamper her, say nice things to her. Bluff her if you need to. Naturally she will take care of the baby, it's motherly instinct.
You need to step up your game to be the strong person now.

Totally agree. The feeling is like my Wife was admitted to the hospital and suddenly we were carrying our baby back home. At times I see baby sleeping and crying or making sounds I felt helpless.

Don’t know the upcoming months how should I be taking care or help my baby to make him more comfy etc.

Sigh

Thanks everyone. I was expecting people to bash me for being a sissy.

I really feel helpless seeing if my baby cry or make some noise and I can’t help much. Since the day my wife admitted I haven been sleeping well or eating well. Sleep few hours and eat very little.
