btw, recently USD drop a fair bit, and now hovers ard 1:1.4 SGD

money changer near my place quoted 1 SGD : 12000 VND, like to check what is the est current rate in hanoi itself nowadays? anyone knows? ....what about the rate for USD in Hanoi? 1: 17000 VND?

trying to gauge if it is really worth changing SGD to USD then to VND.....used to think not worth the trouble...but with the rates nowadays, have chance to explore ?....

The rates in SG is very bad. Unless u change a lot, else wallet will not burst cos they have 500k notes.

I use SGD to change to Dong, unless u need usd to pay hotel n more ex stuff.

What abt the cruise at halong bay? I want something nice for that so i'm wondering whats the price range at for that in Vietnam?
Reading Tripadvisor forums, they seem to recommend booking before going but my friend said got lot of leeway to bargain when u arrive there. Pinta and Paradise cruises seem to be recommended.
Paradise cruises are quoted at 99 USD for 2D1N on the website.

Think i'm going to be mostly bringing USD. Everything is quoted as USD except for small stuff.

Decided to DIY Sapa instead of tour. Booking my halong bay cruise from SG.

As for makan, u can go Truc Bac. This street is full of makan. There is 1 selling frog legs in hotpot, another indian makan, quite famous, also lots of local food.

search for elios hotel. sinhcafe is at district 1 50m from elios hotel. sinhcafe is now known as sinhtourist. I just use their service last Sunday.
