which hotel most convenient? nice and not too expensive?

what can i do there for 4d3n ah?

- Boss Hotel, or any hotel near Ben Thanh market, quite decent and affordable

- Day tour to Cu Chi Tunnels, Cao Dai temple, Mekong River Delta etc. Look for the tour agencies in the Backpacker Area- De Tham St/ Bui Vien- not in city centre as those very exp

- Explore city museums e.g. War Remnant museum, reunification palace

- Eat at famous Ngon Restaurant

In my opinion, not necessary, as you would expect to join a land tour to visit places like the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta, which are guided. Going around within HCMC is simple enough to get by with basic English and sign language.

didn't need to use internet to translate when i was there. basic words and sign language was enough

of course. Long before mobile data became widespread, that's all we had: sign language, very limited vocabulary and maybe a printed book. But if new technology makes life easier for just a few bucks, why not?

Generally, it's handy to have instant on-demand internet access anyway in a new place where you may need to look up information, reviews, tips, latest news, etc. Even more so when it's only a few bucks for the entire trip.

Hi all, I would like to go for a trip to vietnam, free and easy, budget airlines.
I am thinking of joining a tour group when I am there. Dont wanna join the tour group here, feel that it is too rush. Recommended?

Group tours by those big travel agencies are definitely fast-paced and rushed. However there are still travel companies that provide slow paced, unique itineraries for Vietnam.

I've travelled to many cities in Vietnam, and really suggest you join a tour here instead of joining their "open tours" from those travel cafes in Vietnam. I joined a day tour to Mekong Delta and was left abandoned by their tour guide halfway during their cycling tour. You have no idea how scary and worried I was. Luckily we met a local who spoke little english and managed to get us back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Bro... better if u join tour package from singapore travel agent..
include two-way private airport transfer with english-speaking guide, 3* - 4* hotel stay at reasonable price with professional daily tour to Mekong Delta, Cuchi Tunnel (which ends usually at 5pm, so you can have ample time to walk around explore)

will be staying at beautiful saigon 3 for hcm and green hotel for vung tau..

I just came back from hcmc, the money changers near Ben Thành market offer pretty decent rates. At 16800. Btw in sg a few money chnagers offering this rate too.

Change around SGD$50 at HCMC Airport for a taxi to your hotel
once u are in the city area, proceed to Ben Than Market for better rates.

dont go to those money changers, instead proceed to those gold shops just outside of ben than market (iirc , its the west exit . or if u enter the main enterance where there is huge roundabout, it shld be the left side.)
