Thanks.
Just nice got the UOB atm card with PLUS.
but given the $5-10 service fee... maybe use only emergency:D

That's being penny wise pound foolish, bro. To save this small amount, you change money at the money changer, incurring fees and charges, which is likely to be even more. Plus, you carry large amounts of money for the whole trip and risk having them stolen.

If you withdraw from ATMs every few days, you are far likely to carry smaller amounts of money (around $200-300 will go a long way in many countries), minimizing your loss even if it gets stolen.

The choice is yours, but to me, this is the most convenient and safest way to get money overseas.

Is Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City better for sightseeing? Which city has more things to do or more places to see for a first time visitor to Vietnam ? Planning to visit vietnam for 4-5 days in sep or oct

Depends on what you like. For 4-5 days, you can do Halung Bay + Hanoi, or Mekong Delta + HCMC. Both are different and yet enjoyable, though personally I lean more towards Hanoi.

return for $99? that's a steal! but jetstar will add on lotsa of other charges as you step thru the booking :s13: ...

the best price I get so far for tigerair is around $130 ... plus choose seat, one way baggage and $18 admin fee ... total $177 ...

Overseas cash withdrawal is convenient but looking at the "overheads", to me is still emergency only and limit to few hundred S$. :o:D
If I withdraw VND at hcm, then that amount covert to USD, then convert to S$ ...
but good to know there are ways to get $$$ during emergency ... peace of mind.

POSB Cirrus

  1. There's a charge of S$5 per cash withdrawal on overseas Cirrus ATMs. You will enjoy a preferential flat service fee of S$2 if you use your Cirrus ATM Card at the ATMs of Bank Danamon (Indonesia), Bank of Central Asia (BCA, Indonesia), HDFC (India) and Bank of Philippines Island (Philippines).
  2. There is no service fee for overseas purchases.
  3. The amount withdrawn in US dollars shall be converted to Singapore dollars on the date of conversion. The amount withdrawn in foreign currency other than US Dollars will be converted into US dollars before being converted into Singapore dollars. All conversions shall be based on the prevailing wholesale interbank rates or the government-mandated rate, as shall be determined by the respective card associations. The rate used for the conversion may be different from the rate in effect on the date of the transaction due to market fluctuation.
  4. The amount withdrawn in foreign currency at overseas ATMs or purchases made in foreign currency at Maestro terminals are subject to a charge imposed by the respective card associations, either as a reimbursement charge representing the charge imposed on us or as a direct charge to you. An administrative fee of 2.0% of the foreign currency withdrawal or transaction amount for services provided or actions taken by us in relation to such foreign currency transactions shall be payable by you and debited to your Card Account.

Hello!

I have exactly 910,000 dong leftover from my trip to Vietnam! Looking to change them back to SGD with someone who wants the Dong at a flat rate of $50. If interested, please PM me.

Will prefer to deal near Kent Ridge or Bishan.

u should change usd to dong 2use. I have just come back Hanoi from Ho Chi Minh for a few days....exchange rate in hcmc is better in Hanoi.
- HCMC : 1usd = 21.25dong
- Hanoi : 1usd = 21.22dong
Thus, there s not different between them ...because the value of VNd is very small....
